HKT48’s “Hayaokuri Calendar” debuts at No. 1 on the latest Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart dated April 30 to May 6 with 173,625 copies sold. The 11th single by the J-pop girl group comes in at No. 1 for physical sales, No. 4 for Twitter mentions, and No. 11 for look-ups, bumping last week’s No. 1 song, Nogizaka46’s “Synchronicity,” down to No. 2.
But it was a close call, with the difference between the two songs being only about 3,000 points. “Synchronicity” is still performing well in various metrics of the chart’s measurement, coming in at No. 2 for physical sales, No. 2 for look-ups, No. 3 for streaming, No. 5 for Twitter, and No. 24 for video views.
“KISS is my life.” by SingTuyo — a new duo by former SMAP members Shingo Katori (Sing) and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (Tuyo) — debuts at No. 3 on this week’s Japan Hot 100. The song for Canon’s KISS M digital camera commercials is the most downloaded track this week and is doing great on Twitter (No. 2) and radio airplay (No. 5) as well, demonstrating the enduring popularity of the former boy band members.
