Maria Sharapova looks unrecognizable in new Instagram photos: ‘Beautiful’

Fans cannot get enough of Maria Sharapova’s latest look.

The retired tennis star, 36, recently lit up Instagram by posting a series of snapshots from Miami, where her darker locks were on full display after a switch up from her signature blonde earlier this year.

In the pics, Sharapova — who welcomed son Theodore with fiancé Alexander Gilkes last summer— can be seen modeling a dark bikini top with a pinstripes skirt and a matching jacket.

“When your photo album has a few new photos other than your child,” Sharapova captioned the post.

The athlete, who spoke at the F1 Accelerate Summit by Custom Events from WSJ in South Florida last week, was then bombarded with comments praising her “beautiful” style.

“Love the darker colour hair Maria,” one Instagram user commented.

Another fan wrote, “Wow. Very beautiful.”

“I like your hair dark,” one user expressed.

Sharapova, a five-time Grand Slam champion who made her tennis comeback in 2017 following a 15-month doping ban, called it a career in early 2020.

She confirmed her retirement in a personal essay for Vanity Fair at the time.

“Tennis showed me the world — and it showed me what I was made of. It’s how I tested myself and how I measured my growth. And so in whatever I might choose for my next chapter, my next mountain, I’ll still be pushing. I’ll still be climbing. I’ll still be growing,” Sharapova wrote.

Gilkes, a British businessman who was first linked to Sharapova in 2018, posted a heartfelt tribute to her after the retirement bombshell.

“As a remarkable first chapter closes with so many extraordinary fetes, we look forward to all that you will accomplish with equal grit in the years to come. Proudly and lovingly,” he wrote on social media at the time.

Sharapova and Gilkes revealed their engagement in December 2020.
