Kelly Clarkson’s move to New York City seems to be the best thing she could have done for herself after a contentious divorce from Brandon Blackstock. The 41-year-old superstar radiates sunshine wherever she goes, and it might be why exciting opportunities are landing in her lap. Instead of spending her summer vacation in the Hamptons like many celebrities in Hollywood, she’s headed to Paris, France.

This isn’t an ordinary trip to Europe because Clarkson is headed to the Summer Olympics with the NBC broadcast team. She will be a part of the opening ceremony team with lead host Mike Tirico and former NFL star Peyton Manning. The trio stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night to announce the unexpected news. “I’m so glad we can say it,” Clarkson shared. “We’ve been holding this forever.” Today anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb will also be involved in the unprecedented event which will take place around the River Seine in Paris. Who needs a sports arena when you can float around the most romantic city in the world?

The athletes will enjoy a four-mile-long parade on the Seine — no walking necessary. Clarkson, Manning, and Tirico will have a broadcast station near the end of the sail by the Eiffel Tower, and Guthrie and Kotb will have a position on one of the bridges, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Clarkson seemed up for the challenge and did note that this was a fascinating twist in her successful career. “Together, we are hosting the opening ceremony for the Paris Olympic Games. You will never see these three individuals do anything else together,” she joked on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “This is the most random thing that they’ve done, and I am down for the ride.”

Jimmy Fallon might also get in on the act because Tirico bantered about him hosting the closing ceremony, although that news hasn’t been confirmed by NBC. Tirico asked the late-night talk show host where he would be watching the summer games. Fallon responded that he would be home in the US, and that’s when the sports commentator invited him to join the closing ceremony broadcast team.

“Are you serious? Is this real? I’m in! I’m in!” Fallon said enthusiastically. We will see if his wish comes true, but viewers can mark their calendars for the Paris Olympic Games. NBC will begin their live coverage on July 26 on NBC and Peacock at noon ET.
