UPDATE: Bamberg County announced Wednesday that, due to extensive storm damage, schools will remain on e-learning Thursday, Jan. 11 and Friday, Jan. 12.


UPDATE: Due to storm damage in the county, Bamberg County schools will have another e-learning day Wednesday, Jan. 10. Additionally, all after-school programs will be closed. The county expects to resume normal activity Thursday, but that is subject to change.

In Richmond County, Copeland Elementary School students will observe a PowerUp Asynchronous Learning Day as power has not be restored to that building. Georgia Power crews continue to work to restore damaged power lines in that community and they estimate power will restored to the building after noon on Wednesday, Jan. 10.


CSRA (WJBF) – The CSRA is bracing for severe weather on Tuesday, January 9th.

As of this posting, several counties have switched to e-learning for the day or have cancelled class:

  • Aiken County School District (e-learning)
    • Fox Creek High School will be closed
  • Richmond County School District (e-learning)
  • McDuffie County Schools will be closed
  • Allendale County School District (e-learning)
  • McComick County School District (e-learning)
  • Bamberg County School District (e-learning)
  • Barnwell County School District (e-learning)
  • Edgefield County School District (e-learning)
  • Burke County Schools will be closed
  • Jefferson County Schools will be closed
  • Washington County School District (e-learning)
  • Wilkes County Schools will be closed
  • Jenkins County Schools will be closed
  • Screven County Schools will be closed
  • Emanuel County Schools will be closed
  • Warren County Schools will be closed
    • Briarwood Academy will be closed
  • Lincoln County Schools will be closed
  • Westminster Schools of Augusta will be closing early today due to inclement weather:
    • Lower School – 12:15pm
    • Middle School – 12:30pm
    • Upper School – 12:30pm

Additionally, some colleges will also be closed:

  • UofSC Aiken will be closed

The North Augusta vs Aiken High School Varsity Basketball game has been postponed.
