Former WESH 2 News anchor and breast cancer survivor Wendy Chioji is again battling the disease she first faced 12 years ago.Chioji took to her blog, WendyChioji.com, to share that she has been diagnosed with a fast-growing cancer of the thymus gland. Chioji chronicled her first battle with cancer in 2001 in a diary on WESH.com.Chioji, a triathlete, wrote that she had big race plans for next month, which will now be on hold for radiation therapy."They say the best way to make God laugh is to make plans. I’ll try to salvage what I can," Chioji said.Related: Read Wendy's blog on WendyChioji.comIn a recent blog post, Chioji wrote that the 5-centimeter tumor was found early and successfully removed."I am a little dumbfounded that I could get a brand new cancer, 12 years later ... and a rare one at that," Chioji wrote. "I’m so thankful I have the ability to go back to my team in Orlando and get this taken care of quickly and effectively with my amazing support network of friends that rallied after a dozen years of lying dormant."Chioji, who reported Central Florida's news for 20 years at WESH, wrote that she is looking ahead to a Mount Kilimanjaro climb with the Livestrong network -- cancer-free."It will mean more than ever now that I’ll be a two-time survivor. Former WESH 2 News anchor and breast cancer survivor Wendy Chioji is again battling the disease she first faced 12 years ago.
