Fresh off their second straight Big East Tournament Championship (and third in four years), there won’t be much suspense about where the Villanova Wildcats end up on Selection Sunday.
They’re all but guaranteed a #1 seed at this point, but there could be some late drama on what region they end up in. For weeks, the assumption has been that Virginia will opt for the South region which would put ‘Nova in the East. Not so fast!
Two things I wish I knew: What the Committee thinks of Notre Dame? Where UVA wants to go as No. 1 overall seed? First (Charlotte/Pittsburgh) and second (Atlanta/Boston) are too close to call from a mileage perspective. Lots of dominoes depend on it.

Given Virginia’s alumni base, I’d still think they’d rather be in Atlanta than Boston, but who knows! ICYMI it yesterday, Brendan wrote up a very thorough piece about how things could shake out for Villanova (and their potential opponents). Make sure to give it a read.
And that’s why you still want to watch the NCAA’s Selection Sunday special.
Date: Sunday March 11, 2018
Time: 6pm ET
TV: TBS
Live Stream: March Madness Live
If you’re wondering whether the NCAA is planning to botch their show and anger fans everywhere, the answer is (again) yes! Greg Gumbel and crew will first reveal all 68 teams that made the NCAA Tournament, before continuing to break down the matchups region-by-region.
So yes, you’ll sit through a few commericials before finding out who Villanova plays next weekend.
Feel free to use this as your open thread on Selection Sunday.
