Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Open Up About Their Engagement

On March 9, Jennifer Lopez posted an Instagram with no words. Granted, the photo spoke for itself—a blinding diamond engagement ring, indicating that her boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, had proposed after their two years of dating. But otherwise, all her audience got was a string of black heart emojis.

Until now, that is. In a recent interview with People, the couple opened up about their engagement. “We’re really happy,” Lopez said.

Rodriguez also told the outlet that their betrothal was perfect timing. “We have [an] appreciation for where we are in our lives today, and that’s what we’re enjoying the most,” he said.

“Everything that we do, we do together,” Lopez added. “He knows my dreams and I know his dreams, and together we feel like we’re stronger...We’re constantly supporting each other in our individual endeavors and thinking about all the things that we can build together.”

They certainly do act as a supportive team: on Instagram, they often boast about each other’s accomplishments—“Your hard work is unmatched. Your relentless drive and determination push me to be a better man each and every day,” Rodriguez wrote recently. They have also integrated their two families (both have two children from previous marriages). In fact, even before their engagement, the ex-Yankee took to calling Lopez’s twins his own. Oh, and don't forget their complementary couple’s style.

Expect for the Lopez-Rodriguez wedding to be a family affair—reports say that the children, no surprise, will be a huge part of the nuptials. And one can only hope that, just like with their engagement, they will share some swoon-worthy Instagrams for the world to see.
