Italian tennis player Camila Giorgi gives bizarre post-match handshake following US Open loss

It took less than one hour for No. 29 seed Maria Sakkari to dispatch 48th-ranked Camila Giorgi 6-0, 6-1 during the opening round of the U.S. Open on Monday.

That said, the post-match "handshake" between the two competitors was arguably the most exciting moment with the two on the court. Giorgi straight-armed Sakkari and pushed her hand away when the two met at the net, almost appearing to shove her, before shaking the umpire's hand and exiting the court.

Sakkari had no choice but to let the first handshake with the umpire go to her opponent following their awkward interaction at the net.

Giorgi also lost to Sakkari earlier this year at the Cincinnati Open in two sets.

For Giorgi, it's not the first time the Italian has engaged in questionable behavior in what is routinely a friendly post-match exchange between opponents in a sign of sportsmanship.
