Cleveland Dam
Peering over the edge of Cleveland Dam is an awe-inspiring sight
Cleveland dam is located at the south end of Capilano Lake at the head of Capilano River Regional Park. Unlike most dams in BC that were built to produce hydroelectric power, Cleveland Dam was built in 1954 to hold back the water in Capilano Lake, the source of 40 percent of Metro Vancouver's fresh drinking water. The lake collects snow melt and rainwater runoff from the surrounding mountains and holding back this water through the dry summer months provides Vancouver with a year round source of fresh water.
The twin mountain peaks called the 'Lions' provide a beautiful backdrop to the lake and dam.
There are numerous short trails nearby that lead to various viewpoints of the dam as well as to the Capilano Fish Hatchery. It is quite breathtaking to look over the edge of the dam during the wet season and see and hear the incredible power of the water overflowing with a thunderous roar into the Capilano River below.

out of 5 easy hike for about an hour from the other side of the Capilano River, stopped by the Hatchery (shouldn't miss, or you can park your car here for a much shorter hike/walk to the Dam).
Once you are out of the woods......into much broader lakeview.....you will see the stunning Sister Peaks of the Lion Mountain! You can picnic/rest here for a while....and continue your hike in the numerous but clearly marked trails..
Had a great day out for all ages (and various levels of difficulties....you just have to plan well beforehand whichever is most suitable for you and your group.

Great views for someone who love nature. There is a hiking trail as well. Dam is looking scary from the top view, but there’s another side view point. Clam and relaxing place to enjoy the nature. Entrance is free. Inside parking is limited but streets are open for parking.

This is a good trail to do in North Vancouver. Essential to bring good shoes, water, a survival kit, and something to eat. The views are great, there are washrooms on the area, lot of trees, and trails. Be prepared for the rain during winter times. Good too enjoy with family and friends. There is a parking, but also you can come on the bus!

Very beautiful place. Easily accessible by public transit as well. Parking was available until 5pm. Good walking trails as well, a bit muddy in the forest. Make sure to wear good shoes if you’re planning to go for a little hike.

Best place to come and sit for a while after a long, busy day and have some coffee or hot chocolate. I have attached the photos for reference. A must visit place for relaxing a bit.
