Fans of "American Idol" know that Laine Hardy's success story sounds like a Hollywood movie.

The Louisiana singer-guitar player first auditioned for Season 16 of "Idol." Despite judge Luke Bryan's prediction "If you ain't careful, you might win 'American Idol,'" he just made the Top 50.

Fast forward a year, and Hardy was back before the judges again - but this time just to accompany his friend, Ashton Gill, who was auditioning. But the judges remembered Hardy, and convinced him to audition, too. After giving him a golden ticket to Hollywood, Hardy continued to advance until winning Season 17 on May 19.
