What is Graffiti? Art or Vandalism?

The question is graffiti what is it? Is it art or is it vandalism? In my own opinion, it depends on what the graffiti is but for the most part, I say most and almost all graffiti is art. I mean it’s called graffiti art. Graffiti does not hurt anyone there is graffiti everywhere it could be on the side of a building, off on the side of the road, on some guard rails, it’s even at places like skate parks and it’s just a good way to show your art work. Graffiti art isn’t even to just look cool either sometimes graffiti art is to be meaningful and send out a message.A lot of graffiti artists put out messages that say something about themselves or the place they are or their opinions on certain things it could be honest or have a added joke. One I saw that I thought was perfect for this post is “If Graffiti changed anything, It would be illigal” Graffiti art also is a way for artists to express their feelings or whats going on in their lives, which is at sometimes easier than talking to someone. There is also some graffiti art in which artists do portraits of someone they have lost and care about. They do these portraits of the ones they have loved and losted on walls of that persons favorite place. But not all graffiti is art, some people go out just to use their art to be emotionally or mentally harmful towards people such as a person’s house or an establishment they don’t like or they want to offend. I believe that the decision on whether graffiti is art or harmful is dependent on the artist. Some companies even hire good artists to do graffiti art on the sides of their buildings. Many times that artists who do graffiti as a vandal get the police called on them because of it being harmful and hurtful or even just people getting upset that someone who is spraying graffiti art because they either one want to just be upset about something or two they assume it is going to be something that should not be on that wall. I believe for the most part that graffiti is an art and should be embraced for the good it does and just do better to get rid of the artists who use graffiti to vandalize buildings.
