How to unlock the WA2000 in MW2 and Warzone
The WA2000 can be unlocked in MW2 and Warzone 2 in 2023 by progressing through the Season 5 battle pass. This will be one of the initial guns available in the season, alongside four others throughout August, September, and October.
This weapon is a classic sniper rifle and it is great to see it return, potentially to coincide with the fact that your guns and gear will carry over to Modern Warfare 3 later this year from Sledgehammer Games (which has been rumored). After all, the game was originally meant to be an expansion to Modern Warfare 2.
The gun was originally produced in three different calibers in real life by the Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen company from 1982 to 1988. However, due to its expensive manufacturing costs and the fact it wasn’t robust enough for military use, it wasn’t able to be widely produced.
The variant in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone appears to be a first-generation model with a small adjustment by the grip, likely to differentiate it for licensing purposes.
What Call of Duty games has the WA2000 been in before?
The WA2000 had a long run of appearing in Call of Duty games. These include:
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2009) – ‘Loose Ends’ mission, multiplayer
- Call of Duty Black Ops (2010) – ‘Victor Charlie’ mission, multiplayer, zombies
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (2011) – Originally intended for the game but was cut
- Call of Duty Online (2012) – multiplayer
Most players will remember it from Black Ops, where it was often used in multiplayer matches and it did find a place in zombies. But, generally, bolt action rifles have dominated the Modern Warfare games and it hasn’t been the strongest in close-quarters maps. So, it likely isn’t going to stand out from the pack in the current state of the game or the Warzone meta.
