BTS's V has Twitter in a frenzy once more. The reason? He dropped part of a new song that could possibly be from his highly anticipated mixtape, affectionately known by ARMY as KTH1.

On April 20, BTS member V (whose real name is Kim Taehyung) shared an audio snippet of an untitled song on Twitter with the caption, “Sleep.” The audio clip is almost two minutes long, with a soft, piano-infused instrumental that’s befitting of V’s rich, deep vocals. In the lyrics translated by @btstranslation7, V sings, “The silent night approaches me/and when I look towards the window with an empty gaze/I see the clouds outside are still walking [in the sky]/and the ruffling of my bed covers/slowly, slowly fades away/slowly, slowly the night fades away.”

Fans suspect that “Sleep” might be a single for V’s mixtape, which might be a clue he’ll soon release it, and who can blame them? V has been teasing the mixtape for almost a year — he once shared on a live broadcast that he hoped to drop it in 2020. He also mentioned it on BTS’s reality show In The Soop, and he later posted a sneak peek of a new song, which he then deleted. Although the baritone of BTS didn’t end up releasing his mixtape in 2020, the group have assured fans that both he and Jungkook are working on individual music.

One thing we know for sure is that V seems to be acutely aware that slower, introspective songs are right in his sweet spot as an artist. He has consistently released lovely, vulnerable songs that aren’t afraid to tackle difficult emotions head-on. “Sweet Night,” from the soundtrack of the popular Netflix drama Itaewon Class, “Winter Bear,” and, most recently, BTS’s BE album track “Blue & Grey” all bear his signature style. (Fittingly, V wrote “Blue & Grey” and it was originally meant for the long-anticipated solo mixtape.)

So while we may have to wait a bit longer for a longer solo work, we already know to expect striking fashion and a whole lot of heart. (And hey, we wouldn’t be mad if the mixtape featured a 2021 reimagining of “Stigma” and a Kim Taehyung growl.) KTH1 cannot come fast enough.
