Fann Wong is the first Shiseido Ultimune ambassador.

Watching Fann Wong enter a room filled with journalists is to be given a lesson on how to make proper eye contact. The Singaporean actress has descended at 1-Altitude for an interview before her first appearance as the new ambassador of Shiseido Ultimune. She greets the group of beauty writers and editors with her signature megawatt smile and does her best to ensure she looks everyone in the eye.

As each of us take turns to ask her about her beauty tips and how married life has been treating her, she answers each question while focusing her gaze on the reporter the entire time. When it comes to my turn to ask her my questions, her eye contact makes it feel more like a casual tête-à-tête instead of a formal interview. The accomplished star’s friendly demeanour has the ability to make one feel immediately at ease.

Fann started her career as a child actor and model. When she was in primary school, she appeared on children’s programmes and later, modelled part-time after winning a magazine’s makeover contest at age 16. After a string of modelling campaigns, she was invited by a Singapore television producer to star in a drama titled Dreams Come True. Her fame quickly escalated and after her first year in the television industry, she bagged two of the biggest titles—Best Actress and Best Newcomer—at the Stars Awards in 1995.

Fast forward to today, Fann has accumulated approximately 50 nominations and acting awards, with 100 dramas, movies and variety shows under her belt.

When you meet her in person, the other thing you’ll immediately notice is her flawless skin. Good genes aside, the 45-year-old superstar is also diligent when it comes to skincare. When she was a young girl, her mum advised her to count to 20 whenever she washed her face to ensure that it was thoroughly cleansed. It’s a habit that Fann continues to this day, no matter how busy she is.

What’s the biggest change you’ve noticed after using the Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate?
Fann I feel that my skin’s immunity has been strengthened. A lot of people don’t know this, but I have sensitive skin so I’m prone to allergic reactions whenever I try new products, go for facials, or even apply makeup.

But after using this product, I’ve noticed that I have fewer problems where my skin is concerned. The concentrate is very hydrating, and has a firming effect too. It also aids the absorption of whatever products I use afterwards. Even my makeup artist has noticed an improvement in my skin condition, and thought that it was because I’d been going for regular facials!

What do you love most about it?

What are your tips on maintaining good skin?
Fann Drinking lots of water is very important, which is why I’ve invested in a good water filter for my home. I also take supplements and eat a lot of fruit. I love oranges and all types of berries.

What does your husband Christopher Lee’s skincare routine look like?
Fann He’s quite lazy, so he usually skips some steps. After we moved in together, however, I realised that I have to replace my products more frequently. Why? Because he’s been secretly using them! His makeup artists have even praised his good skin as a result!

What beauty blunders were you guilty of when you were younger?
Fann Too many! I used to be extremely eager to try out new products all the time, and thought that the richer or more concentrated the product, the better it’d be for my skin. Now, I know that you have to really understand your skin type first so you can better choose suitable products.
