The new-look Suns are off to a 1-0 start.

Both Phoenix and Golden State were missing All-Stars, as Bradley Beal (back) and Draymond Green (calf) were unable to suit up for opening night.

The Suns were able to prevail behind superstar Devin Booker, who showed he could operate as the team's new point guard with 32 points and eight assists. Kevin Durant didn't have his best shooting night in his first game back in front of Warriors fans, but role players like Jusuf Nurkic and Josh Okogie made big plays to keep Phoenix afloat.

The Warriors got 27 points from Stephen Curry but the star guard needed help, as both Klay Thompson (6-18 FG) and Andrew Wiggins (4-12 FG) couldn't get much going. Chris Paul showed he still has something left in the tank in his Golden State debut, going for 14 points and nine assists.

Warriors vs Suns final score, results from 2023 NBA opening night game

(All times Eastern.)

Final: Suns 108, Warriors 104

12:46 a.m.: And the Suns close out a close one at Chase Center.

Devin Booker paced Phoenix's offense all night, going off for 32 points and eight assists in his first game as this team's defacto point guard. Kevin Durant struggled with 18 points on 22 shots but he chipped in 10 boards for a double-double. Josh Okogie and Jusuf Nurkic were the X-factors, as Okogie finished with 17 points and a number of key hustle plays while Nurkic registered a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Stephen Curry never found a rhythm but still finished with 27 points. Chris Paul looked solid in his Warriors debut, giving them 14 points, nine assists and some clutch plays down the stretch.

Golden State put up a strong fight in the second half but couldn't pull off the comeback on its home floor.

12:43 a.m.: What a beautiful pick-and-roll between Devin Booker and Jusuf Nurkic. The big fella finishes a layup to give the Suns a 108-104 lead with 10.3 seconds remaining.

12:40 a.m.: Eric Gordon hit a clutch 3 to give the Suns a 106-101 lead with 44 seconds to go, but Stephen Curry answered right back with a tough 3-ball of his own. The Suns remain in the lead 106-104 with 30.6 seconds to go.

12:38 a.m.: What a turn of events. Chris Paul came up with a clutch steal and set up two free throws for Jonathan Kuminga with the Warriors trailing by one, but the young forward missed both attempts at the line. The Suns went down the other end and found Josh Okogie for an open 3 in the corner to give the Suns a 103-99 lead with under a minute to play.

12:32 a.m.: This is coming down to the wire. The Suns lead the Warriors 100-97 with 3:07 remaining. Devin Booker is up to 32 points on the night. Golden State has possession and takes a timeout to talk things over.

12:22 a.m.: We have ourselves a ball game. Eric Gordon stripped Andrew Wiggins and pushed it up to Kevin Durant, who found a cutting Devin Booker on a beautiful fastbreak to give the Suns a 95-93 lead with 5:22.

12:13 a.m.: The Suns have opened the quarter on an 8-2 run and have tied the game 88-88 with 9:46 to play.

12:12 a.m.: A major development to start the fourth quarter: Stephen Curry has picked up his fifth foul just one minute into the final frame.

End of third quarter: Warriors 86, Suns 80

12:07 a.m.: The Warriors put up 40 (!) points in the third frame to flip this game on its head. After a lackluster end to the first half, Golden State came out recharged to hold the Suns to 29.6 percent shooting from the field with six turnovers.

Devin Booker has a game-high 25 points but Kevin Durant has been relatively quiet in this contest with just 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting from the field. Stephen Curry has a team-high 21 points for the Warriors while Chris Paul has added 12 points and eight assists.

11:53 p.m.: The Suns cannot get anything going in the third quarter. The Warriors are up 21-5 in the frame, holding Phoenix to 2-for-12 shooting from the field and 0-for-4 shooting from 3 with three turnovers. Stephen Curry is up to a team-high 17 points and Chris Paul has dished out eight assists. Golden State leads Phoenix 67-66 with 5:46 to play in the third.

11:38 p.m.: The Warriors are coming out of the half with a little more urgency. Golden State has worked its way right back into this one with a 15-3 run to start the third quarter. Seven straight points from Stephen Curry forced the Suns to take a timeout. Phoenix's lead is down to 64-61 less than four minutes into the second half.

Halftime: Suns 61, Warriors 46

11:10 p.m.: The Warriors are getting out-hustled by the Suns right now. Josh Okogie had back-to-back offensive rebounds for putback and-ones, then Kevin Durant had an and-one 3-pointer to extend Phoenix's lead.

After outscoring Golden State 33-18 in the second frame, the Suns lead 61-46 at the half.

11:01 p.m.: Devin Booker checks back in and the Suns retake the lead — no coincidence there. Booker finished a layup and found Jusuf Nurkic on a catch-and-shoot 3 to give Phoenix a 43-38 lead with 4:40 remaining in the quarter.

Nurkic has had a strong showing in his Suns debut so far, leading the team with a plus-17 +/- to go with eight points and nine rebounds.

10:52 p.m.: The Warriors have their largest lead of the night, up 35-30 with 7:39 left in the half. Moses Moody has been a jolt of energy for Golden State, getting it done on both ends of the floor with disruptive defense and a team-high 10 points.

He's 4-for-5 from the field with two 3s, three rebounds, two steals and a block.

End of first quarter: Warriors 28, Suns 28

10:41 p.m.: It was all Suns to start this contest but Phoenix's lack of depth is already starting to show. The Warriors' second unit completely changed the momentum of the first quarter, closing on a 16-5 run to tie things up heading into the second.

Turnovers have been the issue for Phoenix, with seven giveaways turning into nine points for Golden State the other way.

Devin Booker leads all scores with 15 points and Kevin Durant has chipped in four. Stephen Curry's eight points leads the Warriors, but Moses Moody brought the energy with seven points off the bench.

10:35 p.m.: And that's an 11-1 Warriors run! Golden State's bench unit is stringing together some stops, cutting the Suns' lead to just two at 25-23 with under two minutes left in the frame.

10:28 p.m.: Devin Booker has 15 first-quarter points, but a blocked heat check attempt led to a Stephen Curry 3-ball in transition. Curry's up to six points on a pair of 3s but the Suns remain in the lead, 24-17, with 4:20 to play in the first.

10:17 p.m.: Devin Booker is heating up quickly. The Suns star already has eight points, burying his first three field goal attempts. An and-one jumper on Stephen Curry gives Phoenix a 13-5 lead with 8:20 left in the first quarter.

10:13 p.m.: And Jusuf Nurkic gets us underway with an and-one on his first field goal attempt of his Suns career!

Pregame

9:42 p.m.: The Suns will start Devin Booker, Grayson Allen, Kevin Durant, Josh Okogie and Jusuf Nurkic.

9:42 p.m.: With Draymond Green out due to an ankle injury, Chris Paul will get the start for the Warriors. He'll join Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney in the starting five.

8:44 p.m.: The Suns will be without All-Star guard Bradley Beal for the season-opener due to a back injury. Head coach Frank Vogel said he's "hopeful" Beal will return for Thursday's game against the Lakers.

Grayson Allen will pick up the start in Beal's place.
