If you're anything like me, you're still totally obsessed with Anastasia, the 1997 20th Century Fox animated film about the Romanov princess who sets out on a journey to find her family and her true identity in revolutionary Russia.

She's aided by a cheeky and floppy-haired rogue named Dimitri, who is completely impossible not to fall head over heels for.

And a chubby goof named Vladimir.

Oh, yea, and there's this whole thing where she has to escape the clutches of an evil dude named Rasputin.

Of course, the film takes wild liberties with history, but whatever. Remember the part where they dance? I die.

Fans have been clamoring for a live-action remake of this beloved film for years, but to no avail. Now, we've gotten the closest possible thing in the form of stunning illustrations that imagine what the characters would look like in real life.

Here's Anastasia.

They come courtesy of Finnish illustrator Jirka Väätäinen, whom you might remember from his incredible illustrations of Disney princesses, princes, and villains in real life.

In speaking about his creative process, Väätäinen told Seventeen.com that he creates the illustrations solely using Photoshop.

"I usually have a certain vision in my head of the character, and I start by thinking of and looking for people or real life pictures that somehow remind me of the character I am working on," Väätäinen said. "I combine, manipulate and blend together elements, textures and features from dozens and dozens of real life photos to come up with this vision of mine."

While he does use celebrities for inspiration, the end results are not based on anyone in particular.

"There are probably elements from about 30 different people on average in every single one of my characters," he said.

The fact that the illustrations seem vaguely familiar while remaining original is part of what gives his work such an enchanting mystique. But they've also inspired me to cast my vote for Chloë Grace Moretz as Anastasia in a live-action film one day.
