Though The Outsider's slow burn isn't always satisfying, it remains watchable thanks to its excellent performances -- especially series standout Cynthia Erivo.

Marek C Very nice peace of television. Well written (no wonder) well casted and played. History worth watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Adam A Solid show with good acting and decent writing all throughout. It does slow down a bit in the middle and the ending didn't provide as much closure and satisfaction as I would have liked but I would recommend the series and would watch it again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review Brian R First 4-5 episodes were good , but slipped into slow motion - we have to fill up 10 episodes. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review Paul E The best thing about this series, and the thing which makes it creepier than most supernatural thrillers, is that it's barely supernatural at all. It is an excellent detective procedural with great characters and solid acting. How did I not hear of this show until just now? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Klo K Excellent screen writing backed up by phenomenal acting. Supernatural shows can rarely pull this off but this one did a fantastic job. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Democritus B This film is distinguished by an exceptional selection of actors, all of whom fit perfectly into their roles. The work of the operator adds an interesting dimension, effectively builds and enhances the atmosphere of mystery and internal conflicts that the characters face. Speaking of characters, they are mesmerizing and their actions are well motivated, which makes their goals clear to the audience. The script itself is impressive, and the quality of the production is commendable. The story revolves around the consequences of a police mistake, showing how even a virtuous policeman can unknowingly become a source of evil and tragedy. Ben Mendelsohn plays the impeccable role of a tormented and conflicted law enforcement officer, desperately trying to repair the damage and find inner peace. The entire film crew deserves credit for their excellent work. Finally, needless to say, Stephen King, a talented storyteller, wishes him good health and continued success in his endeavors. Graeme Blundell The Australian Mendelsohn continuing his great work in TV, with another display of that distinctive brand of jittery intensity, as a Georgia cop who is faced with the grisly investigation, a particularly unpleasant and brutal murder of a child. Dec 16, 2020 Full Review Karl Quinn The Age (Australia) The Outsider pulls off a remarkable high-wire balancing act... It's classic King, this eruption of the otherworldly in the midst of Middle American normality. Feb 14, 2020 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Pajiba The whirlingly macabre, ruthlessly tense, and transfixingly spooky mood of The Outsider makes the mini-series a must-see this spring. Jan 19, 2020 Full Review Daniel Seddon NME (New Musical Express) Hopefully, The Outsider's Fincher-flavoured intensity and sharp acting performances will prove a winning combination for viewers. Rated: 4/5 Jul 13, 2021 Full Review Fausto Ponce Alta Fidelidad Magazine The Outsider continues to hold us in deep suspense. [Full review in Spanish] Apr 26, 2021 Full Review Valerie Ettenhofer Film School Rejects It's King's oeuvre as we've never seen it done before, with moody camerawork, taut scripts, and what at first appears to be a complete genre shift for the Master of Horror.
