Atouk (Ringo Starr) is the leader of a small band of misfit cavemen who are part of a larger community headed by strongman Tonda (John Matuszak). Atouk is madly in love with Tonda's woman, Lana (Barbara Bach). He even ignores the advances of the lovely Tala (Shelley Long) and sets his mind to finding some way of wooing Lana. During Atouk's quest for romance, he and his cohorts fend off dinosaurs, indulge in hallucinogens and invent cooking, music and medicine.

This was one of the first films I saw on cable TV back in the early 80s. It made quite the impression on me as a kid, I loved how the film was perfectly understandable despite there being nearly zero English dialog or subtitles for the caveman speak. As a matter of fact, the adherence to a consistent form of speech throughout the movie puts it miles ahead of many films and TV shows that would just make random sounds rather than attempting to speak the language they were supposedly speaking, all the funnier since it was caveman speak that had so much effort put into it when most shows wouldn't put forth the effort for actual languages. In subsequent viewings over the years, I would pick up on more and more of the adult humor that went over my head as a kid. Even during my latest viewing, a few days ago, I noticed things that I had not seen during previous viewings. The film has a lot more going on than what is on the surface. Braz alunda Caveman. Caveman nya pooka. Critics guwi Caveman gluglug en caca.

what was it like, I can tell you what the first 10 minutes of it was like as that was all I could stand before I had to switch it off, absolutely the worst film I've seen this year, or three, why this was even made escapes me, too much money not enough sense from the voice of Thomas the tank engine Mr Starr, every single bit of this film (that Ive seen) was terrible, pants, poop, Flop, slop, stop making films whoever made it please, Ringo looks like he doesn't want to be there as does everyone else. there is no script as they grunt all the time (or they do in the first 10 minutes) Ringo should have come to me and asked for an idea for a film, the first thing that came into my head would have been far better than this waste of celluloid, sorry Ringo but you did yourself a terrible dis-service in attaching your name with this pile of poo, avoid at all cost, I score this film at about 10%, I'm sure that would have been less if had seen more,

Man, this show was absolutely stupid in the best way possible. Yeah, it has stop-action dinosaurs and off-color jokes. It is just a great goofy fun time. I have yet to meet a 10-year-old who doesn't laugh at this show. I mean how else are you supposed to know what Zug zug, aluna Lana, or that men evolved by getting a chiropractic adjustment? So pop up some corn and let your inner 10-year-old laugh out loud. Your wife may not understand but the kids will.

Yes it’s a stupid movie, but a cult classic. If you just want to lean back and get a good laugh, when people use to do that…this is it. Back in the good ol’ days when people liked to laugh before all this political correct BS.
