Sony announced a new, potentially jaw-dropping addition to its China Hero Project overnight – but don’t expect to play it until at least 2027 at the earliest. The God Slayer, in development at My Time at Sandrock maker Pathea Games, is being billed as an action RPG – and judging by the first images, it looks like a stark departure for the team, with a historical fantasy vibe.
The key art shows a robed character summoning fire from his hands as he comes face-to-face with a traditional Chinese-style dragon. But some in-game screenshots show a muddy settlement and a lady in historical dress. PlayStation is working alongside the developer to bring the game to life, but clearly this is very early days as there’s at least four years of production ahead.
Obviously it’s exciting to see Sony partnering with new studios, especially in countries like China, where there’s a lot of fledgling talent looking to be nurtured. We’re not going to be adding this one to our wishlist until it’s made a bit more progress, but it’s potentially something to look forward to in the latter stages of the generation.

2027? My moneys on this never coming out
This looks really neat but so far all these Chinese games have been the same pattern look too good to be true and have never come out 😅. It looks beautiful though I love Chinese culture and aesthetic and enjoy a few Chinese fantasy dramas so not gonna complain about getting video games of that nature keeping an eye on this here's hoping it won't be vaporware ^__^

well, dudes, color me unimpressed, but I can't get excited about another camera sitting behind the left/right shoulder of the protagonist.. we played 50 games that all look and control essentially the same in the last seven years on this platform.
PSVR is really where innovation is at, shame we will have to wait for the next three hardware generations to pass in order for VR to become what it needs to be so not to be a drag to start and be playing.

Why bother announcing this stuff so far out, it's literally only in the concept stage if it's still 4 years from release.
In 2027, it’ll be closer to 2050 than the release of Avril Lavigne’s Sk8er Boi.
@TheDudeElDuderino wouldnt really call PSVR2 a drag to start and be playing. Literally plug one wire and youre off. Now if it had more games, that would be the treat.
Considering one of the earlier projects was Project X which was similarly billed as an action chinese epic but was sadly cancelled, I'm glad that sony asia didn't quickly abandoned the concept and saved it for the later batches and from what I have heard, my time at portia was pretty good, though seeing them go from a simulation rpg to a hack and slash one could be a bit risque. Then again, same thing happened with F.I.S.T. and that one ended up surpriisngly solid, so who knows?
Wouldn't 2027 make it a PS6 game, PS5 would be 7 years old by then? 🤷

I'm talking about, y'know, the non-bowlers and non-golfers out there, the dudes and dudetes that happily picked up wii sports. We need a wii moment for VR... the tech needs more time dude, no way around it.

This will probably be like all the other amazing looking Chinese games that have been announced in the last four or five years and never release.
This is on the extreme end of ridiculous announcement windows. I prefer when a game in announced and then releases within 1 year. Sadly with leaks that is not often possible anymore.
no, i don't think so. 1. this developer has done nothing noteworthy. 2. we know next to nothing about this game. some nice concept art does not equate to the possibility of the game being "incredible". if that were the case, then nearly every game in existence would have this very same potential.
i think this hype (based on the headline) is quite premature and baseless at this point in time.
