Cd Hagan

September 20, 1945 — May 28, 2020

Brandon, MS

Early yesterday evening (May 28) Heaven gained an incredible new Angel. Our dear friend CD Hagan has gone to be with Jesus and start his eternal gig in God's Heavenly Band. CD passed from this world very peacefully. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS handled arrangements.

For you that never had the privilege to meet CD you missed a treat. CD was a legitimately nice, kind, and thoughtful human being. He was a wonderful husband and father. He was a father and mentor to hundreds of young band directors. CD had the great gift of encouragement and always had something kind to say about your band's performance and you could always count on that life saver to make things go a little smoother and bring a smile to your face just before evaluations. CD was a great band director and you always knew his bands would be prepared and musical. After he retired he became a mentor and consultant and continued to use his gift to help young band directors. Always thinking of others, CD also laughingly used to tell us he was on the nursing home circuit ...as he would go and play and minister to the elderly in nursing homes.

Please say a prayer today for Wanda, Jeff, and Charla. This world is a darker place today without CD Hagan. Until that day my friend, get that Heavenly band tuned up....and this isn't good bye......but see you later!--written by Jeff Cannon

CD was a band director for Brandon Bands and even after retirement, he continued teaching, instructing, and helping with band students.  He was active in the Brandon Baptist Church orchestra.

CD leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of more than 50 years, Wanda Hagan, son Jeff Hagan and wife Penny, grandchildren Alex and Sawyer, and daughter Charla Hagan.

He was a world-class musician, but he was also a world-class husband, dad, father-in-law, and grandfather.  He could be counted on for anything.  He attended his grandchildren's functions, supported all of their activities and always had an encouraging word for all.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Brandon Band Program at 3090 Hwy. 18 Brandon, MS 39042.
