Biography: David Thewlis's most famous role is that of Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter films J.K. Rowling has said that Remus Lupin is her favourite series character. The character first appears in the 3rd film in the series "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004).

Thewlis has also appeared in a number of other successful films including his break-through role in "Naked" (1993), for which he won best actor at the Cannes film festival.

Thewlis is also a screenwriter and a director of short films. In 2007 he published his first novel "The Late Hector Kipling".
