Most folks know him as Legendary Washington Redskins wide receiver Art Monk, but you and I know him as Legendary Syracuse Orange wide receiver Art Monk. And that legend has officially been honored and inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

The Syracuse star joins Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer, Former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer, former Miami and Oklahoma State coach Jimmy Johnson and former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum, amongst others.

Syracuse.com has the full list as well as Monk's SU accomplishments:

Monk played receiver at Syracuse from 1976-79, leading the team in receiving three straight seasons. He is sixth in school history with 3,899 all-purpose yards. He went on to a long NFL career with the Washington Redskins and New York Jets, catching 819 passes and making it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

Monk still holds the Syracuse record for receptions in a game, with 14 against Navy in 1977.

The current member of the SU Board of Trustees was an All-American in 1979, leading the Orangemen to their first bowl game since 1967. He is currently tied for eighth on Syracuse's career receptions list (102) and eighth on the career receiving yards list (1,644).

Monk is already a member of the Professional Football Hall of Fame. The Class of 2012 will be inducted into the HOF on December 4th.
