Lakshmi Menon Wants to Make History

Lakshmi Menon is on a mission. The actor, who is now playing the female lead in Miruthan, says she wants to make history. “I have great expectations from Miruthan as this is Tamil cinema’s first zombie film. I will now be a part of Tamil film history. More than playing the female lead, I wanted to be a part of that history and that’s why I agreed to do this role,” says Lakshmi, adding that she attaches the same importance to being a part of this film as she would to a Hollywood film.

“I simply love horror films in English. I am also someone who gets rattled by such films,” she says and adds that she believes in the supernatural. “If there is a positive energy, then an evil energy too will exist,” she says confidently.

Talking about Miruthan, she says, “This film is about a journey. I play a doctor, whose character is well written in the script. Seven characters play important roles and all the others are zombies. Strangely, there is also romance in this film.”

Lakshmi Menon informs CE that just like Jayam Ravi, even she had to work in several risky shots. “There was one shot in which I had to come out of a burning car. Then, there was an 80-ft tall structure we had to climb. These were all risky stunts but Jayam Ravi helped us out,” she says.

About working with Jayam Ravi for the first time, Lakshmi shyly admits, “To be honest, I had a crush on Jayam Ravi when M Kumaran, Son of Mahalakshmi (2004) hit screens. I was in school then. I liked that role so much that I decided if I ever had a boyfriend, I would look for a person with such qualities. After entering the film industry, and now working with him, that crush has turned into admiration.”

So, has she found a boy with such characteristics?  Lakshmi laughs, “No, I haven’t, and I am single. I have not been in a serious relationship.”
