Get To Know Him | Ivan Aska

Throughout the 2015 Summer League in Las Vegas, we'll be introducing you to a few faces on the team's roster that you might not know. Today, we'll continue with Ivan Aska.

What’s His Name?

Ivan Aska.

It would be cool if his middle name started with an ‘A’ so I could write, “Ivan A Aska question”. But it doesn’t, so here we are.

Where Is He From?

Aska is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and attended Boyd H. Anderson High School. After his high school years, the forward attended Murray State and was a big piece for the team over his four years, starting 85 of a possible 126 games. During his senior year, he averaged a career-best 10.6 points and six rebounds per game.

He was undrafted in 2012, and spent the last four seasons playing in various places overseas. Last year, he played on Miami’s Summer League team and averaged 4.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

Where Have You Heard About Him Before?

If you fill out brackets for the tournament, you might remember his 2011-12 Racers team that went 31-2 on the season and received a sixth seed. The Racers beat Colorado State in the first round before falling the three-seed, Marquette, in the second round. In those two games, Aska averaged 6.5 points and nine rebounds per game. He teammates with current Philadelphia 76ers guard Isaiah Canaan.

Describe Him For Us:

Aska is a small forward, but he plays like a power forward. He’s not going to stretch the floor much, but his value comes on just kind of being a bulldog. He fights for rebounds and is strong enough to defend power forwards.

Best Social Media Post:

Ivan’s Twitter account should make us all feel like horrible people. He is very grateful for his situation and he lets it be known in his tweets.

Seems like a good dude.
