Actor and painter Park Shin-yang has expressed her honest thoughts on her four-year hiatus and acting career.
On the 14th, Park Shin-yang appeared on "JTBC Newsroom" and conducted an interview with announcer Kang Ji-young. Park Shin-yang is an actor with 28 years of experience, but she is also an artist who has painted more than 130 works over the past decade.
"I had little opportunity to talk about 'what do I think' while acting," he said. "I have no choice but to include my thoughts and feelings while drawing." "I have no choice but to talk about myself," he said, explaining the reason he devoted himself to painting.
Regarding the previous remark that "I have never sold my work and have no intention of selling it in the future," he said, "I have never said anything." I think they want to affirm it, he said. "Many people asked me if I was selling it, so I said several times, 'Art museums are not for sale.' Then, the article came out saying, "I don't sell anymore," he explained.
After a four-year absence from acting while working on the painting, he replied, "I don't have any longing for acting because it's the same expression for me, whether it's acting or painting."
Park Shin-yang said, "However, if there are good works, projects, and good characters, I will review them hard," adding, "In the case of acting, I rarely had a chance to solely express my thoughts." Acting is someone else's story, and I'm expressing it as a character," he added.
"The picture contains my thoughts and feelings, so I have no choice but to talk about myself," he said. "The picture is a perfect one-man play in which I write the script myself and act alone." That's why I think I'm more free when I paint, he said.
Park Shin-yang, who is also known as a perfectionist, said, "No. Not really. I think they are relatively focused on expression. If you think about how much you should do your best, there is no limit. It's not about me who does it, it's about the people who watch it. I don't know if it would have seemed like a perfectionist, but I want to say I was doing my best," he said.
