Alternative rock band Jimmy Eat World is the latest act slated to perform at The Big E Arena, with a Saturday evening concert this September.

The Big E said in a news release Tuesday that Jimmy Eat World will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 in West Springfield and they will be accompanied by the band Palehound.

Tickets for the concert go on sale this Friday, June 23 at 10 a.m. Eastern, exclusively on the Big E’s website. Tickets to the concert include admission to New England’s largest fair when bought online prior to the show’s date.

This year, the four-piece band — originally from Mesa, Arizona — is celebrating three decades of making music, spanning across 10 albums, according to the Big E.

The band’s commercial breakthrough came with the 2001 release of singles such as “The Middle” from their album “Bleed American,” it added. That song rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart and peaked at No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, spending 33 weeks total there and becoming RIAA-certified platinum.

The band’s follow-up album “Futures” featured the song “Pain” which also rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart, the Big E said.

In October 2019, the band released their 10th album, called “Surviving,” and it became one of the three “chapters” to their 2021 globally streamed “Phoenix Sessions” series, which also included “Futures (Chapter V)” and “Clarity (Chapter III)” performed in their entirety, the Big E added.

The Big E, the largest event on the East Coast and the fourth largest fair in North America, returns Friday, Sept. 15 through Sunday, Oct. 1.
