The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-8) host the Carolina Panthers (6-9) on NFL Sunday on New Year's Day at Raymond James Stadium in a game with crucial postseason significance for Tom Brady's team.
The Buccaneers are coming off of a vital OT win at Arizona on Christmas Day, where Brady was able to be clutch for a final drive to secure Tampa's win 19-16.
The Panthers need to win today to have any shot at the NFL postseason, while Tampa Bay just needs a victory to secure Tom Brady's 19th Divisional championship of his career (albeit in a lackluster NFC South).

Tom Brady and his men have only one mission: to win at home to take a huge step in becoming NFC South champions in this key divisional matchup against a Panthers side with little to lose. If Tampa wins, they will become divisional champions.
A Tampa loss would make the Bucs no longer control their own destiny. With both the NFC South and a Wild Card spot still possible, the Buccaneers have a lot to play for in the final two weeks of their 2022 NFL regular season.
The Panthers have been a disappointment this year, but still have a shot which would only be kept alive with a win today in Tampa. Their 2022 season will be remembered for the firing of head coach Matt Rhule.
If Tampa loses, they would need to root against the Commanders winning against the Browns (two Washington losses is the only way they could still have postseason hopes if they lose). They would also need to Seattle Seahawks to lose against the Jets or in Week 18. Another team the Bucs need to win if they lose today are the Vikings against the Packers. A Packers loss today is the only way they could opt for a Wild Card postseason berth.
