Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? This was shared with me by a candidate. He’d like to work for a company with similar policies in place... During my tenure at (confidential company), I had a surprise visit from my manager one day, announcing, "You're getting a raise today!" Given my relatively short time with the company, a raise wasn't something I anticipated so soon. Intrigued, I inquired, "That's great! But why the sudden increase?" The response exemplified one of the reasons I cherished working at (confidential company). My manager explained, "We've recently onboarded a new Senior Software Engineer who successfully negotiated a higher salary than what we're currently paying you. Consequently, we're adjusting your salary to align with the market." This instance highlights the importance of staying attuned to market trends. If the cost of hiring new talent rises, it indicates an upward shift in the market. It's crucial not to penalize loyal employees by letting their compensation lag behind market standards. Inspiring 25+ years tech manager's achievement. When I asked a manager(Name not disclosed) with over 25 years of experience in the tech industry about his most significant achievement in life, I anticipated him to mention accomplishments related to the products he had delivered, clients he had handled, or the brand he had developed. However, his response was truly remarkable. He shared that his most stunning achievement was identifying and recruiting a young, inexperienced candidate who lacked full confidence in their skills but had a strong desire to learn. Acting on instinct, he decided to bring this individual on board and invest in their development. Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks initially, the candidate persisted and refused to give up. Over time, they transformed from an average worker into an extraordinary contributor, surpassing their peers in performance. This individual's dedication led to opportunities for international travel, earned them significant recognition and accolades, and ultimately enabled them to build a substantial house in their hometown.
