In January 2007, Janne Da Arc fans were initially disappointed as they learned that the band would be taking a break and the members would be working on solo careers, but in May, a rush of excitement was felt as Janne Da Arc vocalist yasu started to work on his solo project. An official announcement was not made, but that didn’t stop yasu from performing in secret. Throughout May and in the beginning of June, he held various secret lives all across the country.

In June, the official announcement of the start of Acid Black Cherry appeared on the official site of Janne Da Arc. This was not the only announcement, however; the group's first single, SPELL MAGIC, would be released in July.

The highly anticipated SPELL MAGIC was received very well. During recording, yasu had been working together with various other well-known artists, such as SUGIZO (LUNA SEA) and SHUSE (ex-La'Cryma Christi). Live, he was supported by Chisato (PENICILLIN), YUKI (DUSTAR-3) and various other musicians.

Acid Black Cherry’s popularity increased rapidly due to an extensive promotion campaign. yasu appeared in various magazies and on a lot of radio shows, sometimes even doing radio appearances twice in a single day.

Promotional activities and live shows weren't the only things that kept yasu busy. His releases came out in a steady flow. In early 2008, hardly a year after his debut, yasu had four singles to his name. Each of them contained one original track and a cover song, and the original tracks can also be found on his first album, BLACK LIST, which came out in February. Another album, Recreation, containing the aforementioned cover songs and more cover tracks, came out in May.

Two more singles came out in 2008, as well as Acid Black Cherry's first live DVD, which contains footage from his BLACK LIST tour of that year.

On August 2009, Acid Black Cherry released the Q.E.D, which was followed by the Nemuri Hime single in November. The single featured the title track written by yasu and a cover of “Sailor Fuku to Kikanju”, titled Recreation Track. However, due to health issues, the singer had to stop his activities for a while and underwent throat surgery.

On March 2010, the double DVD Acid Black Cherry 2009 tour “Q.E.D” was released, featuring scenes from his Nippon Budonkan show on November 2nd of the previous year. In June, ABC released his second album cover, Recreation 2, featuring guests lile DAIGO from BREAKERZ. August saw the new single Re:birth coming and one of its tracks was used in the game “Anoter Century’s Episode: R”. yasu was returning to his musical activities.

2011 started out exciting for Acid Black Cherry with a ZEPP tour, which began on January 22nd at ZEPP Sapporo and ended on February 8th at ZEPP Nagoya. The tour included many artists, such as DEAD END, jealkb, BREAKERZ, QUINTILLION QUIS and PENICILLIN, and supporting musicians, HIRO (Libraian, La'cryma Christi), YUKI (DUSTAR-3), SHUSE and Jun-ji. Acid Black Cherry also started a tour called ABC Dream CUP 2011, and a show was broadcasted via UStream to everyone who couldn’t attend the performances.

From September 2011 to January 2012, Acid Black Cherry released five singles in a row: Pistol, Shangri-La, Chou, Crisis and Yes. In March 2012, the album 2012 was released, reuniting the singles alongside Re:birth andShojo no Inori III. Acid Black Cherry also took part on the tribute album for BUCK-TICK, released in July with Romanesque.

In October 2012, ABC released a new DVD, called Acid Black Cherry Tour “2012”, which featured 140 minutes of tour scenes. On the same month, yasu took part in HYDE’s (L’arc~en~ciel, VAMPS) HALLOWEEN JUNKY ORCHESTRA. On December 13rd, 2012, the band made their fifth anniversary show, Erect, at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium.
