Introduction: Turn the Pope Into Palpatine

This is my first instructable, explaining how to use Adobe Photoshop CS3 (or any PS that has the animation feature) to make a morphing animation of Pope Benedict XVI turning into Emporer Palpatine from Star Wars.

What you will need:
- Any Photoshop series that has the animatin feature, i know that CS2 and CS3 do.
- The images of Palpatine and Pope Benedict which i will upload for you.
- A sense of humor.

Step 1: Open Up the Images in Photoshop.

Pretty self explanatory.

Step 2: Paste Palpatine.

Select all (cntrl + a, not sure about Mac) of the Palpatine photo, copy it (cntrl + c) and paste it (cntrl + v) onto the photo of the Pope.

It should be on a new layer.

Step 3: Open the Animation Window.

Go to Window>Animation.

A new window should pop-up down the bottom with your photo in it.

Click the 'duplicate selected frames' button which looks like the create new layer button.

Step 4: Some Settings.

Make sure your on the first frame of the animatin window, then go to the layers pallete and select the Palpatine layer.

You then deselect the 'Propagate frame 1' box, and click the eye on the layer to make it invisible on the photo.

The layers pallete should look like this:

Step 5: The Animation.

Make sure the first frame in the animations window is selected, and press the 'duplicate selected frame' button, then drag the duplicated frame to the end.

You should now see three little photos, in the order of pope, palpatine, pope.

Now to make the morphing!

Select the first frame (should be the pope) and click the tween button. For the people who don't know what this is, it is on the animation window, and looks like 4 dots, each with different opacitys.

A box should pop-up, and the only setting you will need to change is the frames to add.
Make it about 50, the higher the number, the more frames and the slower it goes.

Now go to the second last frame which should be the one of Palpatine just before the Pope.
Select it and do the same.
You should now have quite a few frames there.

Click the play button and it should be morphing Pope Benedict XVI into Emporer Palpatine!

You can play around with it to get it right, just keep undoing until you find the best one.

Step 6: Now How to Save.

To save an animation in Photoshop, click File>Save for Web(& Devices).

A box will open up, then click save.

Another box will open up, asking you where to save it to.

Find your destination and write your filename.

Make sure the file you save it as is called something like 'Images only (*.gif)'.
Or a .gif file.

Then click save.

Step 7: Finished!

Now find the photo and enjoy!

If you have a little experience with Photoshop, you can manouvre the photos around to line the faces up better.

Still looks cool though right?

Once again, this was my first instructable, so i hope you enjoyed it and i would greatly appreciate feedback.
