‘Amulet’ Graphic Novel Series Being Adapted by Aaron Coleite for 20th Century Fox
20th Century Fox has hired Aron Coleite to bring “Amulet” to the big screen, Deadline reports. A series of graphic novels by Kazu Kibuishi, “Amulet” follows a girl named Emily who moves in with her great-grandfather and discovers a magical necklace that allows her to enter the fictional world of Alledia. No casting decisions have been announced yet, but anyone who’s seen Bella Ramsey’s performance as Lady Mormont on “Game of Thrones” knows the young actress is ready for the big time.

“Amulet” was previously in development at Warner Bros. with the involvement of Will Smith’s production company Overbrook Entertainment; his children Jaden and Willow were planned to star. As so often happens in this capricious industry, however, that iteration of the project never came to fruition.

Coleite, a comic-book writer who’s worked on the “Ultimate X-Men” series as well as NBC’s “Heroes,” also served as co-executive producer on the forthcoming “Star Trek” series being run by Bryan Fuller (“Hannibal”).
