Away from the public eye, in a classic V fashion, Taehyung recorded a video of himself [which seems from during his Paris trip] wishing himself ‘Happy Birthday’. The video is funny and leaves fans reeling with nostalgia. 202 has been quite an eventful year for Taehyung and his fans.

Apart from the various public fan meets and appearances, Taehyung made sure to be active on Instagram and was spotted chilling with his gang and members quite a few times. With ‘In The Soop: Friendcation,’ V took fans on a journey with his Wooga Squad [Park Hyung-sik, Choi Woo-shik, Park Seo-jun and Peakboy]. He, along with the Wooga Squad, even composed a song about friendship.

The singer-writer travelled across Europe, Mexico and was in Paris for quite some time attending the Celine pop-up events, or fashion shows. He also became the biggest brand ambassador for Cartier this year. If not making hearts flutter with this, V also made frequent visits on Weverse live to say a quick ‘hi’ to his fans. Amid all this, his biggest feat was releasing his much-awaited album.

Ending years of anticipation and waiting for ARMY [BTS fans], V finally released his first solo album. Titled 'Layover', it had six songs and each one had different flavours and colours of V, which we have seen over 11 years now. With lingering verses of love, loneliness and genres ranging from modern jazz to R&B, the album managed to earn several records for V on several music streaming platforms.

The album’s first-week sales smashed records by soaring past 2 million copies, making it the all-time best-selling album in 23 years. V also became the first Korean soloist to have all the tracks from a single album charting on Billboard's Global Exclusive. The singer even promoted the album the most ‘V’ way by holding a fan meeting [with a cameo by Jimin].

V’s Instagram game was also completely on point. The singer can exude old-world charm and gentleman vibe without a flinch. For his album, V was seen exuding a casual yet charming side to him. Interestingly, V shot each video of his song from the album differently from one another, telling a story of its own. For one, he went all ‘shimmy’, giving it a rock star vibe. For another, he was fighting loneliness, in another, driving away the blues, and in another, speaking of love. He also enhanced the videos with sombre lights and the authenticity of Kim Taehyung, who is not afraid to show the more real side to him.

What’s perhaps enchanting about V is that he mediates between being a star and a musician effortlessly. The common thread between his Instagram, his Weverse post, his music and public appearances is - Kim Taehyung owns V like second skin and what you see is what you get! His dramatic shift from being the adorable Kim Taehyung to a heart throbbing V is as seamless as going from ‘Love Me Again’ to ‘Slow Dancing.’

On the work front next, the singer released a song on his birthday for fans. For the same, he has collaborated with Umi for the song ‘Wherever u r’. He will also be featured in a song by IU. In another good news, V along with other BTS members [RM, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, Jin and Jungkook] have renewed their contracts with Hybe and BigHit Music.

Here’s wishing V a very happy birthday!
