The National Weather Service said the Houston area should be getting ready for the possibility of more severe weather on Saturday.

Storms late Thursday pounded the region and caused extensive damage across north and northwest Houston. Lance Wood, Meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said the area could see something similar this weekend.

“It's going to heat up, it's going to get pretty hot and sunny pretty early in the day and into the afternoon," Wood said. "And then kind of late in the afternoon, into the evening we're going to see scattered thunderstorms."

He also said high winds are likely again.

"The chance of wind is probably a little greater than hail, but you could see either," he said. "We definitely have a shot of both.”

The next week will also be very humid, with temperatures expected to rise and stay in the 90s now that summer is almost officially here.
