Life made it so that it took me around 2 months to finish this book. And yet, every time I came back to it, it was like I never left, no accommodation time needed, nodding my head like "yes, yes, this will be a 5 stars." And it was - not only a 5 stars, but the best book of 2021 I've read so far.

What I loved about it?

First and foremost, the characters. I simp for Leesa Delemar and for XBA. But oh, especially Leesa.

Then, the writing style. And when I say writing style, I mean three things:

1. There's nothing I love more than reading about the countless little ways in which a fantasy world bleeds into the language of the characters. It's not about the setting, but about all the cultural little things that enrich the world. I love how the language evolved around this mutant smartphone called Cynque that's like Big Brother on steroids. I loved Allister's slang. I loved how familiar everything felt since the world of 205Z is similar to ours, just a couple of years into the future, but add an impending apocalypse that shaped the way in which people think about society, life, and time itself.

2. The fighting scenes. The author did not cut corners. If you love the DC movies, this is for you. The fighting scenes are written with care and patience and they are written masterfully, like I've only seen Brandon Sanderson do in Mistborn.

3. Overall the writing style. There were a gazillion of sentences that were so simple, but so beautiful. Example: "mercy is against my religion."

I loved the dystopian aspect, the idea of the Sanctuaries, the potentials, and Allister's relationship with his parents which was so BEAUTIFULLY done.

Conclusion: this is a different book. A different concept. Something that stands on its own. If you're into - dystopia/superpowers/superheroes/supervillains/Marvel-DC, go grab it.

Review: 4.5 stars! 🔥

Interstellar meets Marvel in this sci-fi dystopian novel from the Lost Children of Andromeda.

What a ride! From the very beginning we discover that Earth's days are limited and that the apocalypse is near, in fact, the story starts with only 215 days left before the end of the world.

Allister Adams is constantly having to skip towns and start anew with his mom, as he hides from humanity who he truly is: an Evolutionary. With super strength, speed and other incredible potentials, Allister is one of the few generically advanced humans, as was his father before him.

Allister is torn between finding the purpose of his potential and the need to stay hidden. As he starts to uncover the truth behind his father's past, he comes face to face with a struggle for power between two rival organizations, C20 and the AP. Prepare for an action packed sci-fi adventure accompanied by detailed illustrations to give the reader a clear view of the authors mind as we dive deep into the lore.

I pictured a world similar to Total Recall, where everyone has implated smart devices on their bodies and hovering automobiles and building structures on top of each other in a modern yet chaotic setting. The writing style is truly captivating as well as the world building, but what really surprised me was the characters and their dynamics. This novel truly has it all and I could definitely see it to the levels of big movie giants like Interstellar.

This book is a work of art.

First of all, it should be made into a movie. It reminded me so much of that addictive feeling one gets when watching a really good Marvel movie, where the main hero’s backstory breaks your heart and you find yourself wanting to know more and more about their power, where it comes from, what great challenge they’ll need to face. 205Z: Time and Salvation gave me all of that. It was filled with incredible action sequences, as well as beautiful illustrations throughout which helped me really visualize the characters, the world and the events. Like I said, a work of art!

The author was able to pull me into the story from the very beginning. Allister is a main character that is easy to sympathize with. His struggles are those of an everyday 19-year-old—a mother who feels too strict, a society where he doesn’t quite fit in. Add to that the literal impending end of the world and the surge of powers he doesn’t know how to control properly, and you have yourself a hero one can’t help but want to protect.

I was very intrigued by the powers of the Evolutionaries and curious to figure out what was going on with both the Andromeda Project and the C20 factions. The lines between good and evil were blurred, and I loved that the Andromeda Project wasn’t presented as being entirely good. It forced us readers to get to know the characters in order to decide who to trust. This is why one of my favorite characters ended up being Dr. Florence Belladonna, who was intriguing from the start but was suspicious because of her psychic powers. I won’t tell you if you can trust her or not, but I definitely loved her character.

As a big fan of families and found families in books, I really enjoyed that aspect of the book as well. Every relationship presented in this book is…complicated, which only made them seem more real. I loved watching the evolution of Allister’s relationship with his mom and how he was able to build a family of his own through the friendships he makes along the way. However, the bond that really made me cry was the one between Allister and his father. The scenes between them were always charged with so much emotion, made all the more precious because of how rarely one could expect them to happen.

This was a fantastic start into this series, and I cannot wait to see what will come next!

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own!

205Z: TIME AND SALVATION is the first book in the Lost Children of Andromeda series. This is the perfect read for fans of sci-fi fantasy/dystopian crossover books, with a special emphasis on family relationships, friendships and personal growth. Also, the majority of the main cast of characters is diverse, which was a beautiful breath of fresh air! I highly recommend this read to fans of the genre and Marvel fans as well!

Time and Salvation was a deeply immersive read. Not only did I find the author’s writing style heartfelt and easy to follow, but I loved the interactive segments with questions for the reader and the visual component of the narration. Throughout the book the reader can find incredibly beautiful illustrations of key moments, and as someone who loves fanart, this was such a treat! You can even find a soundtrack for this book on Amazon! All of these little details really enhanced the feeling I perceived since the very first page: reading this book was like watching a movie—and a great one at that! The story is filled with action, plot twists, and a chain reaction of events that challenge and shape the heroes throughout. Allister could easily be a Marvel superhero. He is a young man with a traumatic past who finds himself dealing with a power he doesn’t completely understand, and one he doesn’t always think himself capable of controlling. His inner struggles go hand in hand with his character development: the more he understands his powers, the stronger he grows, and so too does his confidence. A very positive hero!

My favorite aspect, however, was the character relationships. Though there are some I would have liked to see in a little more depth—specifically that between Allister and Leesa—I deeply appreciated the author’s realistic approach to familiar bonds, not just as uplifiting and positive but sometimes messy, complicated and even damaging. I especially loved Allister’s relationship with his parents—his father most of all. If you don’t think I cried during some key moments in this book, you are wrong!

Overall this was a fantastic start into this series and sets a great premise for what’s to come. Thank you so much to the author for gifting me a copy! All opinions are my own.

My superhero lover self is happy. This isn't the genre I usual dive into but Andromeda pulled me in completely. I absolutely love marvel. I grew up watching these movies and even now I enjoy a good superhero flick. The author not only gave us a great found family story but there was the inclusion of character art throughout the book, which made it super entertaining to read!

I really loved the amazing inclusion of BIPOC characters. That always makes me happy. To see the representation is so fulfilling! The story is about the struggles of our main character Allister, at a young age he has so much going on. This book taught us about the good and evil, not everything being good all the time. This is where the Project comes in, I absolutely loved Dr. Belladonna. her power was absolutely epic. Reminded me a lot of badass characters like Jean Grey.

The author gave us a great presentation of the book with interactive questions that make us think of real life situations and goals. I absolutely loved how Allister connected with so many of the characters along the way. Although he had so many struggles with his own self, Allister showed resilience and character growth (which I am a sucker for). This was an epic start to this series, I know we're going to see great things in future books. The message was so profound, not only regarding finding ourselves but always look out for our loved ones. I look forward to learning more!

Huge thanks to the author for sending me a copy. All opinions are my own.

4.5 stars:

First of all, what a great format! I absolutely loved hot the book had character artwork interspersed throughout. It truly did enhance the reader experience and I found myself always looking forward to the next piece of character art. I wish this was a more common thing to do!

The book itself was really enjoyable! It felt like a completely unique world, yet wasn’t so elaborate or different that I found myself getting confused it lost. You could definitely tell that the author spent a lot of fine thinking through the world, which I appreciate in sci-fi for sure. I also really enjoyed the slang the author created! It was a nice touch and served to even further immerse you the reader into the world.

I loved the superhero/superpower aspect of this book too! The characters were rich and well rounded, I felt like even though we met multiple characters, none of them felt one dimensional.

Def recommend if you love Scifi or superhero movies…or if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to discover that you all of a sudden found yourself with superpowers! Can’t wait for the next book!

Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts are my own.

X-men has been a huge part of my childhood and something I love so. Storm is my favorite female super hero and obsessed. She’s amazing and so powerful. Lessa from this epic book gave me all the vibes. Strong and badass. If you love dystopian books and X-men. If you love cyber punk and tons of inclusivity. Found family. This book has it all.

Loved this book! I met the author and he was so enthusiastic about his writing, it was contagious. I loved the writing style, you get caught up in the story and can picture the action scenes like a movie, they're so descriptive. I love stories that change the narrative to different characters, so the reader can see the story from different points of view and get to know the characters well; Jason Michael Primrose pulls this off seamlessly. He weaves positive messages into the storyline, and creates a fantastic world where the characters are not only challenged by their own survival, but by how they want to define themselves through the choices they make.

I got the book direct from Jason, he is a nice, and friendly person... Well I'm reading the book for the second time now, and if you like cyberpunk + X-Men stuff!? This is the book for you. I love the way the author put images throughout the book, it makes your imagination goes beyond, the characters are awesome everyone have their own personality. Each beginning of chapter tells you who is the main character on that chapter, this is good!. Can't wait to finish it, and start reading Zosma.

(This is my message for those who didn't like the book 😘)
English is my second language and it's so weird to see people saying that "oh i had to read two, three times the same part because I couldn't understand"? Are you for real?... Every single page i could imagine everything on my head. Maybe people won't read my review or they will criticize it too. but I don't give a F.... This book is for those who likes sci-fi stories, if you didn't like?! Go back to your boring biographies book
Xoxo.

The doomsday clock is ticking down and there are only 215 days left before the end of humanity. Allister Adams, born with genetically advanced powers, could be the gateway to an alien artifact that could save the world. In this science fiction superhero doomsday novel, a diverse team of superpowered individuals team up to try and stop the apocalypse.

I really enjoyed this book! It felt like reading a futuristic X-men novel with a black male lead at the center of it. Right off the bat, I do warn you that this book is a chonker, about 800 pages long. With books of that length, I am always hesitant going in because sometimes a lengthy book can suggest some editing issues, but I do think that this one absolutely earns that page count. It didn’t feel like a slog, and it kept me pretty engaged all of the way through. A lot of the 800 pages are taken up by multiple pov characters and large action set pieces. If you’re a fan of action and superpowered battles that can span across chapters, then this is the perfect read for you! Although, I do not recommend this book for readers looking for a light sci-fi read. It’s a hefty tome with a lot of terminology regarding the magic system, constructed slang, & invented futuristic technology that might put off readers who aren’t as big into science fiction and a lot worldbuilding.

Personally, I love all of those things, so this was right up my alley. I enjoyed the manifestations of the different powers and how they were used in battle. Many of the plot reveals toward the end of the book were well seeded throughout the narrative, and amid all of the action and high stakes, there is also this poignant thematic exploration that challenges the reader to explore their own potential. One of the things that make this book unique is that it features multiple colored illustration peppered throughout the novel, which I thought was a nice visual touch that really solidified the comic book vibes of the story. The main character is that wide-eyed idealistic type of hero, but I thought it was a nice contrast from the jaded types that surrounded him. It usually isn’t my favorite heroic archetype, but it works here because Allister Adams wouldn’t be too out of place from any other Marvel superhero. The MC’s relationship with his parents was one of the highlights of the book. There also wasn’t really anything graphic in this novel, and I would consider it an all-ages read. It really is a perfect novel to hand off to a teenager who enjoys comic books and is looking to get into something with a heavier page count.

Although, I did have a few minor nitpicks. There were several moments during an action sequence where the details became very vague. During certain moments, I wish things were slowed down a bit to really take in the minutiae of what was going on. For example, there would be periods where Allister would activate his powers and then suddenly it was like wait, what happened? It would have been nice for those moments to have been more sketched out. I also wish there was more relationship building between Allister and a certain character to make the eventual betrayal more effective and believable. Because there are so many characters in this novel, I thought there was still more depth that could have been dived into with some of the characters, but this is definitely something that the author can build on in the sequel. Lastly, I wish that the doomsday clock had less days on it just to ratchet up the stakes more, but the ending did suggest that there would be eight more parts, so we’ll see!

Overall, this was a very thoughtful & well-constructed novel. If you are at all interested in a science fiction novel with lots of action, a diverse team of superpowered individuals racing a terrorist organization to recover alien artifacts against a doomsday clock, and a heroic Black MC trying his best to save the world, then you are in for a good time. I can’t wait to see what else this author delivers to the science fiction genre!

You know those books that would become nearly monthly rereads as a kid? Because the world was so transformative & immersive that you wanted to lose yourself within it once again, following the different characters and feeling anxiety and delight at their pains and triumphs, even knowing how the story will end?

That’s how I felt reading 205Z: Time and Salvation.

It’s an empowering story, encouraging you to recognize your potential against all odds … and to embrace your identity even when everyone else in your life tells you to suppress it. It’s got thoughtful character arcs. And it’s got an ending that is really an invitation – there’s resolution, but it left me hungering for more even after a nearly 700 page read.

We’re dropped into 2052, with 215 days to go until the end of the world. Living is already deadly: natural disasters have destroyed countries, cities are now considered sanctuaries, and those with privilege are leaving those without in the dust. With time running out, the only people with the possibility to save the planet are genetically-advanced Evolutionaries with all sorts of unique potentials for power.

Teenage Allister Adams finds himself part of the war for salvation, torn between a government-sanctioned entity and a group of radicals. He’s got to master his own powers, have confidence in his identity, and unravel the mysteries surrounding the items that could be humanity’s last hope … all before it’s too late.

Jason Michael Primrose has an incredible gift for world-building. I haven’t read anything quite this unique in a long time – my best attempt to describe it would be a dystopian cyberpunk futuristic fantasy world. It’s intricate and detailed; an explosion of creativity, but with clear purpose.

The cast of characters, tech, and world are brought to life by gorgeous illustrations. The pictures are often full-page renderings of characters in action, and they added so much depth to the reading experience. There’s also jaw-dropping music and animation teasers online - I highly recommend checking those out!

There’s a huge amount of diversity within the characters here - between identities and backgrounds, you’ll see yourself represented on the page in some way. It’s so intimate & empowering to see a broad, intentionally inclusive world. We get POVs from kids and adults, from heroes and villains, from past and present and everything in between. There’s also a fabulous animal companion if that tickles your fancy. :)

Primrose NAILS action scenes - wow. The nail-biting fights came to life before my eyes. And the plotting is just as tense, with quick chapters that hold your attention and stakes that are frighteningly high.

The messaging was powerful and earnest. Everyone has potential. The possibilities are endless… you just have to start somewhere.

CW: blood, bullying, car accident, classism, confinement, death, grief, gun violence, injury, kidnapping, medical trauma, murder, panic attacks, police brutality, torture, violence, war, mass death

🌛 205Z: Time and Salvation 🌜

There are many amazing things about this book. I knew I was sold as soon as I finished reading first sentence of the synopsis. And I wasn't let down, I loved this book very much! It was captivating and even though it's long, it took me only two days to finish it. If I didn't need sleep and food, I would have finished it in one sitting, without any breaks. It's that good! Now, I'm gonna start trying to describe the amazing experience this book brings to it's reader. First, this book is very different that anything I've ever read. So, be prepared for one of the most unique books of your life. The book has beautiful writing style. Author knows how to show beauty even in the most simple, short sentences. Don't even get me started on how many times I had to stop while reading to write down amazing quotes from the book in my reading journal. Then, because author just couldn't resist, he gave us amazing set of characters. I'll just say I really enjoyed their company and I wish this book was another 700 pages long so I could get more of them, but don't mind me, I'm greedy, I love those long, well, really long books. And, as the cherry on the top, the fighting scenes! While reading those masterfully written scenes, it was like there was a Marvel movie going on in my head. I absolutely loved that, the whole book was very descriptive! We all know not everyone can write those scenes that entertaining. I've only enjoyed Sanderson's and Martin's fighting scenes so far, so I was pleasantly surprised to see amazing fighting scenes in this book as well!
I also loved the world building in this one! Even though this world is not unlike today's world, there are so many little details in the book that gave unbelievable fantasy/dystopian feel to this futuristic Earth of 205Z.
We all know it's hard to get to know the world and characters of a book thought just one point of view in these type of books. Well, you don't need to worry about that because the author thought of everything and this book has multiple POVs!
So, to sum it up. This is an amazing book, you should definitely read it!!! You can get it on Amazon or Book Depository!

Hi! 205Z: Time and Salvation by Jason Primrose is the first book of the ‘Lost Children of Andromeda’ series that I recently read. I would recommend it especially to tweens.

This is a sci-fi/ dystopian book that follows a 19 year old as the world is ticking to an end. Allister- the protagonist- in my ways, struck me as someone relatable to tweens.

Book Review-

I’ll start off by the thing that makes this read unique. The detailed illustrations of the characters are honestly beautiful. It also helps you follow the story and to differentiate between the various dynamic characters. It helped me picture all of them and stay hooked to the story.

Another other unique thing in this book is the interactive aspect. The book occasionally asks the reader questions that help think on self-potential, etc. [breaking the fourth wall and all]. It also makes you look at the story differently and analyze it better, all reasons why I would recommend this read to a tween especially.

Allister is still finding himself and it was great watching him find his found family and mature. The action sequences were described perfectly and all-in-all this was an easy read that I can almost guarantee I would have loved as a tween. I hope you enjoy this read if you pick it up!

Thank you to the author and bookinfluencers.com for my free copy of this book.

205Z: Time and Salvation paints a chilling yet compelling vision of a dystopian future facing imminent apocalypse. As the year 2052 nears its end amidst environmental disasters, protagonist Allister Adams struggles to secure salvation for himself and his friends before time runs out.

Author Jason Michael Primrose immediately pulls readers into this high-stakes world through Allister's race against the countdown clock, lending an addictive urgency. The genetically engineered "Evolutionaries" like Allister add imaginative sci-fi elements with their heightened abilities. But Primrose balances these with relatable characters facing impossible choices and moral dilemmas.

Themes of inequality and privilege take on new resonance in this apocalyptic landscape, where evacuation ships signal salvation for the elite few. Primrose explores timeless questions of human nature through Allister's eyes as order decays.

By centering the story around likable protagonists, Primrose crafts a dystopia that engrosses more than depresses. While often grim, glimmers of hope shine through. I sped through this page-turner while connecting deeply with the characters' plight. With resonant themes and cinematic world-building, 205Z launches an addictive series I can't wait to continue.

Did you ever finish a book and wish you could go back in time to experience it for the first time again?
That is exactly how I felt the moment I completed 205Z!

I was completely sucked in right from the beginning. I’m not one for giving away spoilers so I’m going to be pretty vague here :) the character development is outstanding! I loved each and every character, including the baddies. The depth each character brings and the way their back stories are built and how they interact and intertwine together… amazing!
The author also does an incredible job explaining lore and giving dimension to his world! I am blown away by the level of detail, and how he makes it easy to follow along. Sometimes I get really lost in sci-fi and have to re-read to understand where the story is going, but for this one it almost was seemed effortless (which means a whole lot of effort had to have been put into the amazing way this story flowed!)

Overall, an incredible book, easily one I will re-read and treasure. Easily one of my top five favorites of the year!!

There is just SO much to love about this book, y’all. To start, I am blown away with the super innovative structure of this novel, including character art placed throughout (GENIUS) and multiple point-of-view chapters, my freaking favorite!

I could totally envision this masterful dystopian adventure on the silver screen, or even as a binge-worthy show. The crown jewel for me is the diverse cast of characters, each so unique and I so appreciate the morally gray vibes. Allister was an extremely relatable MC with a dark past and burgeoning powers; I found his character arc to be super compelling and his development to be very well-rounded overall!

I already know this will resonate for my students, so I'll definitely be shelving this book in my classroom library for them to devour. Highly recommended for fans of Marvel superheroes and fast-paced immersive sci-fi world!!

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed above are entirely my own.

“At my darkest, I can choose to be my greatest self”
-Allister Adams

The author created an incredibly rich and immersive world with small recognizable features of our current world landscape.
When I state this book is immersive I don’t just mean that the story is incredible but also that author included questions for you as the reader to think about as well as some amazing artwork. The very last piece of artwork was honestly my most favorite of all; such a great piece to end the book with.

The book is written with several different POVs Of a plethora of good, bad and morally gray characters. The potentials for each character were very unique- it is obvious that the author took great care in crafting each character.

The action is written really well- love a good fight scene.
Beneath all of that there is a story of love and a kid who is literally trying to save the world.

I recommend this for all my sci-fi, world ending readers! Can’t wait to start the next book!

I’m definitely enjoying a good SciFi read in between and 205Z: Time and Salvation by Jason Michael Primrose has been an utter delight!

The author’s writing style is astoundingly captivating and empowering. This book gave me total X-Men vibes with its action-filled, addictive plot and the original story-line.

The world-building has been incredible and I could imagine everything very well.

And then there have been the stunning characters with all their different character traits, their development and their journey.

205Z: Time and Salvation has been an absolute reading highlight for me. I loved it from the very first sentence and I also fell head over heels for the incredibly curated art that is spread out through the whole book.

I can definitely recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a good SciFi book!

The plot in this book is absolutely fantastic. Instead of just being a mash up of other story’s it is new and original which you don’t get a lot anymore. I found myself wishing the book was longer so that the author could take the time to really explain what the world around them was like. My only problem was the descriptions weren’t very good. It was very hard to creat an image of what was happening or what the characters look like. The book tries to make up for this by including drawings of the characters, but they are not labeled so half the time you don’t know what character it’s supposed to be depicting.

Typically dystopian and Sci-fi are not my go to genre, but Primrose has a fresh take on the genre that I found myself absolutely loving. The book is long, but don't let that intimidate you. I felt rewarded each time I got to one of the gorgeous pieces of art work in this book. I think this really amplified this book to the next level and set it apart from others in the genre.

I am a huge Marvel fan and I got all the marvel vibes while reading this book. Plus found family is one of my favorite tropes. The writing was compelling and the storyline was complex yet easy to follow. I cannot wait for the next one.
