Rated Older Teen this series has been known for limited nudity and fantasy violence so use your best judgment before letting younger people read these books.
The ground in the independent trade city of Housman and the surrounding lands have begun to shake causing panic among the people after not experiencing such an event within the 44 years the trade city has been around. With time running out and the sacred blade beginning to lose its ability to force Valbanill in a catatonic state Luke must travel to the resting place of one of the greatest demons in the land to examine the sacred blade so he might create a new blade capable of saving the world. In the meantime Cecily learns the truth of her family's bloodline called the sacred blade's sheath which Luke also heard of recently before her. Of course this book also continues the growing relations between Cecily and Luke which I personally really enjoy.
We also get a glimpse in to recent troubles that Aria has been experiencing as she explains her problem to Luke and Ewain Benjamin (who is the ambassador from the militant nation that has an interest in the history of the lands.) With the truth of Cecily's family's curse Luke begins his journey in earnest to complete the true sacred blade before sacrifices must be made and Aria begins her own journey for answers as plans are set in motion and we are left with multiple cliffhangers as danger emerges (be sure to read the book if you are curious about what happens to these three as well as Cecily who goes to save Aria.) :)
Given a choice my favorite part of the book is when Ewain and Luke are talking as they wander the caves. Although there is danger Ewain in his capacity for learning things and curiosity simply has to know about why Luke does not seek a relation with Cecily if he really cares for her and we get an insight into the inner workings of Luke's thoughts even though there is danger all around.
