Reagan Strange (‘The Voice’) breaks silence on Adam Levine controversy: ‘I don’t expect some people to understand’

Reagan Strange has finally broken her silence on Adam Levine‘s “The Voice” controversy that broke the internet. “I don’t expect some people to understand. They weren’t there,” the 14-year-old tweeted over the weekend in anticipation of Monday’s Final 8 performance episode. In case you’ve been living under a rock the past week, Adam created a firestorm when he decided to throw one of his two remaining artists, DeAndre Nico, under the bus in favor of Reagan, who was too sick to perform for the instant save. Kelly Clarkson tried her best to put a positive spin on Adam’s decision, but the damage had already been done.

The move was seen by many to be an act of desperation by Adam, who hasn’t won “The Voice” in a whopping six seasons (since Jordan Smith in Season 9). Of course, Adam didn’t break any rules by dissing one artist for another, but that didn’t stop fans from crying fowl. When the instant save votes were tallied, DeAndre and Dave Fenley ended up being eliminated and Reagan, thanks in part to Adam’s plea, advanced to the semifinals.

Reagan declared in her tweet, “I’m thankful for the opp my fans gave me sing again. I love you all, even those who don’t want to be loved.” That’s a direct reference to the millions of “Voice” fans who took to social media to attack the Maroon 5 singer for what happened to DeAndre. Reagan then added that it was a “good day” because her baby brother was coming to visit her for the Top 8 performance show. Here’s the full tweet:

Do YOU think that Adam went too far in advocating for Reagan while tossing aside DeAndre? Here’s a small sampling of comments from “Voice” fans on both sides of the debate:

Jane Ryerson: “I wouldn’t vote for her now only because of what Adam did. They should have not voted at all and all 3 should have gone through.”

Sal emelio: “He does not stink. He’s looking out for the best singer, which is Reagan by far.”

Billene Christy: “It was wrong! It may not be against the rule for him to do such a pathetic thing but, it goes against the very definition of being a coach!”

Cecelia Danaher: “The fault doesn’t lie so much Adam, but with ‘The Voice,’ for not having a rule in place. Think of it logically. If it doesn’t matter if you sing or not for the instant save, what was the point of having the other two contestants sing at all?”

Sarene Hampton: “I was so disappointed in Adam’s actions. I don’t think any other coach would have done that if in the same position.”

Tara Hull: “In my opinion Adam did what he had to do to win but … I think he came off too strong and it really upset DeAndre.”
