Want the Wienermobile for Your Marriage Proposal? Oscar Mayer Is Here to Help

The 27-foot hot dog on wheels is specifically interested in helping you pop the question.

As a child, I put the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile up on a hot dog-shaped vehicle pedestal. Sure, any kid could grow up to be president, but grow up to ride around in the Wienermobile? Fat freakin’ chance! Recently, however, Oscar Mayer has been offering even more public access to the giant sausage-on-wheels than ever before. Last year, the Wienermobile was put up on Airbnb for the first time ever. And for 2020, Oscar Mayer is giving lucky couples the chance to have the drivable dog do a guest spot at their wedding proposal.

Starting today, Oscar Mayer is encouraging hot dog fans to request the Wienermobile specifically for upcoming marriage proposals. (Yes, an official Wienermobile request form exists.) “You can now relish your upcoming special day with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile,” the brand states with a pun. “Summer weddings may have been a no-go, but proposal season is coming up FAST. So, Oscar Mayer is making the iconic Wienermobile available to anyone who’s ready to mustard up the courage to pop the question to their significant other.”

Granted, having the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile hanging out in the background while you propose may not feel like the most romantic plan, but the hot dog brand points out it’s sure “to make [your] proposal even more memorable, for better or for wurst one might say.” And the whole concept was inspired by an actual proposal: Wienermobile driver (aka “Hotdogger”) “Zach n Cheese” asked his girlfriend to marry him alongside his signature ride at Yellowstone Park last week.

“When Zach told us about his plans to propose with the Wienermobile at Yellowstone, we knew it would be a one-of-a-kind experience they would never forget,” Nick Guerten, marketing director for Oscar Mayer, told me. “We wanted to extend this to our fans so everyone can have the opportunity of a 27-foot hot dog on wheels present during such an important life moment.”

Good news for Zach: she said “yes.” But let’s be honest: Your mileage may vary.

As for the fine print, Oscar Mayer says that when filling out the form, you should specifically state that it’s for your proposal and make sure to mention how you envision the Wienermobile being part of your plan. Requests will then be granted based on the Wienermobile’s availability, though, unfortunately, the company states that you won’t be notified until the week before your requested date. Still, the whole thing is totally free, so what do you have to lose? You know, besides your relationship? But as my grandma always said, if she didn’t want you in front of a giant hot dog, she probably didn’t really want you at all.
