For television his credits included the documentary "A Private Collection" and the series "Apostrophes". His many other books were "Feu de braise" (1959), the bestselling short novel "La Motocyclette" (1963)", the Prix Goncourt, France's most prestigious literary prize for "The Margin" (1967), "The Margin" (1969) and "Calder and Boyars" (1971). He also was married to Italian painter Bona Pieyre de Mandiargues. He died at age 82 in Paris, France.
