Undead Murder Farce season 2 potential release date, cast, plot and everything you need to know

Undead Murder Farce was the sleeper hit of the summer 2023 anime season.

A weird Victorian-inspired steampunk fantasy that's part detective story and part supernatural action adventure, Undead Murder Farce was one of a kind.

Unfortunately, the show has come to an end after just one cour of 13 episodes. Lady Aya Rindo would certainly not approve.

So what are fans to do? While we wait patiently for more updates, here's everything we know about a potential Undead Murder Farce season 2.

Unfortunately for fans of compelling mysteries and supernatural beasties, there has been no official confirmation that Undead Murder Farce is getting a season 2.

The show's first season is widely understood to have been under-watched (and underrated), so it's unclear what the future holds. It seems unlikely it will return though, given an official statement from the show's X account, which reads: "This is the end of the TV anime broadcast, but please continue to support the work."

Undead Murder Farce's first season was produced by Lapin Track, who we'd expect to return for a second season (if one gets greenlit). The show's principal cast includes;

If the show does get a second season we're bound to have some more characters introduced – Captain Nemo, anyone?

Undead Murder Farce season one covered a lot of ground! We were introduced to Aya Rindo, Tsugaru and Shizuku and the world of monsters they inhabit, watched them solve mysteries with Sherlock Holmes, tangle with Lupin and the Phantom of the Opera and even help a village of werewolves escape persecution.

The show's first season also spent a fair amount of time setting up its villains, Banquet: a team comprised of famous faces from classic fiction including Frankenstein's monster, Moriarty and Carmilla the vampire.

After episode 13's explosive finale though it's not clear where the story could go next. The series is an adaptation of a series of four novels by Yugo Aosaki, the latest of which was published in July 2023.

The franchise has also been adapted into manga, with seven tankōbon volumes released at the time of this article.
