The accolades continue to roll in for Michigan tight end Jake Butt and Michigan State defensive tackle Malik McDowell.

Butt and McDowell, both highly decorated this preseason, made the ESPN preseason All-American team released on Monday.

Iowa cornerback Desmond King of Detroit East English also is an ESPN All-American.

ESPN’s Dan Murphy wrote of Butt: “Teammates say the 2015 All-American is deceptively fast and uses his body to get open as well as anyone in the country. Equipped with a coaching staff that makes good use of its tight ends, it's a safe bet that Butt is on his way to a second-straight season of 50-plus catches.”

Butt, from Pickerington, Ohio, had 51 catches for 654 yards and three TD last season. McDowell, from Southfield, had 13 tackles for loss for 54 yards, eight QB hurries and 4.5 sacks in 2015.

Murphy: “A strong showing in the College Football Playoff launched McDowell's national profile to a new level. The Spartans' defensive line is now his to control, and the massive athlete will be playing in several spots to wreak as much havoc as possible in opposing backfields.”
