If you're one of the many people who look forward to Chick-fil-A's annual Cow Appreciation Day, then you probably have been awaiting the second Tuesday of July since the beginning of this year. If you're one of the few people who have no idea what I'm talking about, Cow Appreciation Day is the one day each year that Chick-fil-A lovers are encouraged to dress up as cows (...or in cow attire) in exchange for free food. Sound like a dream? It is! Unfortunately, though, that dream won't be coming true this year.

According to the Chick-fil-A website, Cow Appreciation Day 2021 has been postponed due to safety concerns related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Although many restaurants and fast food chains have opened dining rooms back up to both limited and full capacity, Chick-fil-A is still only operating through curbside service and drive-thru only, making the decision to postpone the big day understandable.

"We made this decision with the communities we serve in mind, keeping Safe Service as our highest priority at this time. Until we can gather again in person and celebrate our Cows, we have created a few fun ways to keep the spirit of Cow Appreciation Day alive this summer," the statement reads.

This isn't the first year Cow Appreciation Day has been postponed. Last year, at the height of the pandemic, the tradition—which has been happening since July 2005—was postponed due to Chick-fil-A's dining rooms being closed. But just like last year, the chicken chain has made it possible for you to celebrate at home by offering downloadable and printable activities that you can access on Pinterest.

So while Pinterest activities may not be the way you saw yourself celebrating the big day this year, here's hoping for an even better experience in 2022. In the meantime, you can always make your own version of their delicious nuggets at home (truly—this recipe is next-level)...without dressing up like a cow. But, like, you do you.
