Three's Company vet Suzanne Somers, 74, says she feels as good now as she did in the '70s because she puts makeup on EVERY DAY: 'It's good for my self esteem'

Suzanne Somers says wearing 'a little' make-up is part of her 'self-esteem'.

The 74-year-old actress and beauty guru has insisted looking her best every day helps to boost her morale.

'A beauty regimen is so important as you age, because you want to present your best face not only to yourself and your husband or your family, but to the world,' she said during a video interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle.

'And to not take care of yourself means you don't value yourself. I comb my hair every day and I get dressed every day, and most days, put on a little eyeliner just to open up the eyes,' added the Step By Step star.

'It's part of my self-esteem to present the best face that I am capable of presenting.'

The Three's Company alum also revealed her biggest tip for women over the age of 50 is to not wear the same make-up they wore in their 20s.

She said: 'The biggest beauty mistake women over 50 make that I see is continuing to do the make-up they did when they were in their 20s.

'Because at 50, 60, 70, 80, it starts looking thick and heavy because you have to put on more. Your lines aren't as defined as they were.   

'We have cell phones. You can take a picture of yourself, and the cell phone pictures don't lie. And just see if what you're doing is working.'

The health spokesperson and businesswoman added how the secret to maintaining her youthful 'glow' is making sure she is looking after her hair and skin and eating healthy.

She added: 'The best piece of advice that I could give women over 50 is what you put into life is what you get out of it.' 

The California native added: 'If you're not going to take care of yourself, it's going to show on your face, and on your body, and it's going to cause accelerated aging. 

'So take good care of yourself. Feed yourself right. Use the right products on your hair and skin. It gives me this glow, this joy, that my purpose, that I'm doing the right thing with my life at the right time with my louder voice, which is such a privilege.'

Last year was hard for the star.

In October Somers posted an alarming photo to Instagram.

The blonde beauty was seen in a medical neck brace that went from her chest to her chin. It was only 10 days ago that she revealed she had fallen down a flight of stairs forcing her to have surgery on her neck.

Friday also marked the actress' 74th birthday and she announced she was celebrating at a bar despite her brace.

Suzanne was in her light green neck brace with her white blonde hair falling down her shoulders as she said, 'Brace Yourself! I'm 74 today!'

The siren also had on a black top as she was photographed outdoors.  

'It’s my birthday! I’m 74! I’m back on Facebook LIVE and IGTV tonight at 5pm PT! announced the TV veteran in her caption.

'Plus, I have a birthday gift for YOU! Can’t wait to celebrate with you ✨.'

The gift was her party which she said was being held at Big Al's Bar. She lives with her husband Alan Hamel in Palm Springs, California.

The workout guru had a terrible fall down a flight of stairs in early October.

A week later she said she was 'on the mend.' The blonde bombshell looked radiant in an off-the-shoulder dress as she posed with her 84-year-old husband Alan.

The pinup had on an off-the-shoulder black dress as she beamed in the image.

Behind her was husband Alan who also looked to be in good health.  

'SURPRISE!!! The family is here and we will reveal the October SUZANNE Selects Box today at 11am PT! I’m not quite camera-ready but my two favorite guys are here and Caroline made bolognese. I’m on the mend and Life is good! Join the fun!!' she said in her caption. 

Also in the image was Bruce Somers Jr, the 54-year-old son of Suzanne and her first husband, Bruce Somers, who she was married to from 1965 until 1968.

Suzanne let fans know she had hurt her neck requiring surgery. The blonde beauty took a fall down a flight of stairs with her Hamel and Suzanne felt the pain the most, she shared with an Instagram post.

After seeing a doctor the pinup realized she had two vertebrae out of place and went in for an operation.

In the meantime, the couple took a break from their Facebook show.

Suzanne and Alan have been married since 1977. 

Somers is already recovering from a fractured hip from last year. The TV star began: 'Thank you so much for all of your concern while Alan and I took a break from our normal schedule.' 

She added: 'As most of you know, I have been struggling for the better part of the year with a fractured hip, and then Alan and I took an unfortunate fall while coming down the stairs at our home. 

'I had an intense amount of pain after the fall that was not resolving – even after having tequila!'

After several scans, 'it was determined I had 2 vertebrae out of place which was causing pressure on nerves and creating that tremendous pain.'

Her secret: Somers likes fresh herbs and spices, like rosemary, thyme, tarragon, mint, turmeric, chives, cayenne, cumin and cinnamon. Seen in 1979

She said the good news was that she had neck surgery to correct the issues.
