He's preparing to take to the stage on Friday for the Australian leg of his stage tour.

And on Monday, Hugh Jackman, 50, was taken through his paces by friend and longtime trainer Michael Ryan.

The actor appeared flushed as the pair left a gym at Sydney's Bondi Beach.

Hugh covered his muscular frame in a black hooded sweater from his Laughing Man Coffee Company.

He added coordinating black workout shorts and sneakers, and concealed his gaze behind designer sunglasses.

Holding onto a striped beach towel with one hand, Hugh headed to the surf to cool off.

Michael also wore black workout attire, consisting of a T-shirt, shorts and sneakers.

He carried a backpack and appeared to be heading back to his car.

Hugh and Michael have been friends for over 25 years, with the Aussie icon reportedly even taking up best man duties at his wedding to Zoe Bingley-Pullen in 2007.

That same year the pair took their friendship to a professional level as Mike helped whip Hugh into the best shape of his life before shooting Wolverine, the Herald Sun previously reported.

Back in 2013, Michael told 9Honey that Hugh maintains his exercise regime when not filming.

'He'll keep training four or five times a week,' he said. 'It's all about consistency and variety.'

'There are very few days when he's not on his A-game,' Michael added.
