The adjustable low-pass and fixed subsonic filters make sure your sub gets only the frequencies it was designed to play, while AudioControl's unique AccuBASS® circuit ensures that your bass sounds great.

Active controls

Most factory radios turn down the lower frequencies as you turn the volume up in order to minimize stress on inexpensive factory speakers. AccuBASS eliminates this bass rolloff, so you get maximum bass performance when you add aftermarket amps to a factory radio. Onboard LEDs indicate optimized signal flow for inputs and outputs, plus give you a warning when a source is too loud and causing distortion. An optional wired remote lets you control bass volume from the front seat.

Works in almost any system

AudioControl designed the LC-1.1500 to work equally well with aftermarket and factory stereos. Speaker-level inputs allow you to connect to almost any factory radio. Signal sensing circuitry turns the amp on via the speaker-level inputs, so you won't need to run a remote turn-on wire throughout your vehicle.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The AudioControl LC-1.1500 mono subwoofer amplifier is designed to enhance the sound of your car stereo system, whether it's a factory or an aftermarket one. Outputting 850 watts @ 4 ohms and 1500 watts @ 2 ohms, the LC-1.1500 can accept both line and speaker level inputs. Key features include AudioControl's AccuBass compensation circuit, GTO signal sensing turn-on, and a connection port for the optional ACR-1 remote level control (sold separately).  The amplifier features a black brushed aluminum chassis, with black powder-coated cast alloy heat sinks and a one piece bottom panel. A black brushed aluminum cover is provided to protect the amp controls from tampering. The included 2.5mm Allen key is used to remove the cover.

AccuBASS: The patented AccuBASS processing circuit compensates for factory bass rolloff to improve bass performance, especially with most factory installed sound systems. The circuit has two rotary controls: Threshold lets you dial in the level at which the AccuBASS will begin to work, while the Level control raises or lowers the level of AccuBASS compensation. A slide switch allows the AccuBass feature to quickly be Enabled or Disabled.

ACR-1 Remote: The optional AudioControl ACR-1 wired remote ((sold separately) lets you adjust the subwoofer output level from the driver's seat. The remote level control comes with a 20' cable, terminating in an RJ-14 jack that plugs into the amp, and is designed to be mounted under a dash for easy access while driving.

Maximum Input Level Control (MILC): The amplifier analyzes the input signal to detect any clipping. If the signal reaches the level of clipping, the MILC Source Clip LED lights red, prompting you to turn down the gain level. When the gain level is maximized, a green Maximized LED will light to indicate the gain is set to the optimum level.

GTO (Great Turn On) Signal Sense: If you are connecting the amplifier to a factory stereo or an aftermarket unit without a remote turn-on lead, the GTO Signal Sense circuitry can turn on the amplifier when an audio signal is detected on either the line-level or speaker-level inputs. After a period of time with no signal input, the amp will turn itself off. An On/Off slide switch is provided on the amp activate the GTO Signal Sense feature.

Connections: The LC-1.1500 features the following connections:

  • Power / Ground / Turn-on: The amp features set screw terminals for the +12V, ground, and turn-on leads. The power and ground terminals will accommodate up to 1/0 AWG wire. The terminals can be tightened/loosened with a Phillips-head screwdriver (not included). The manufacturer recommends 0- to 2-gauge wire. A 160A fuse should be placed on the power wire within 18" of the positive battery terminal. The set screw turn-on lead terminal will accept up to 8-gauge wire and requires a Phillips-head screwdriver. Typically, an 18-gauge wire is sufficient for the remote turn-on lead.
  • Line Inputs: A pair of RCA jacks is provided for connecting the amp to the source unit.
  • Speaker Level Input: A 4-pin Euroblock (or Phoenix) connector is provided for the speaker-level input. The connector can be removed for easier wiring. The screw terminals on the connector require a small Phillips-head screwdriver. The left and right audio signals are summed internally to produce a mono subwoofer signal.
  • Speaker Outputs: Four set-screw terminals are provided to connect the amp to the subwoofer, or multiple subwoofers. The combined speaker impedance should not dip below 2 ohms. The terminals are wired internally in parallel.
  • Level Control: The optional ACR-1 remote control plugs into the provided RJ14 terminal.

Controls: The LC-1.1500's controls are located under a protective panel that can easily be removed with the included 2.5mm Allen key. A flat-head screwdriver (not included) is needed to adjust the rotary controls which include the AccuBass and GTO settings, a Low-Pass crossover with a range from 30 Hz to 230 Hz, a Polarity switch with 0 or 180, and LED indicators for Power and Protection.

Q
Hello, if I hooked up 2 jl audio 12tw3-d4 to this amplifier what would they ran at rms? Both of the jl audio 12tw3-d4 voice coils will be ran in parallel which I believe will be 2 ohms each? Would this audio control lc1.1500 amp be too much power for both subs? I thought if I used Both subs that would put me around the recommended rms for those subs which is 400. Thanks in advance

Q
Hi there, Does this amp shutdown if it get's to a certain hot temperature or would it regulate itself to continue playing?
martin  Oct 17, 2022
1 answer
A
That is a great question, Martin. This unit does create some heat since it is such a beast of an amp! The large aluminum heatsink fins help, but if you live in an especially hot environment or are planning on pounding on your amp hard it's nice to have some additional protection. This amp has a thermal heatsink and thermal transformer protection. This amp will not continue to play if it does get too hot, the unit will shut off to protect itself, then resume operation when it has reached the proper internal temp. I hope this helps!

Q
Can the fixed subsonic filter be turned off?
scott d.  Nov 25, 2021
1 answer
A
There is no way to turn off the subsonic filter on this amp. We offer other amps that would not have this issue. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to get a personal recommendation

Q
I have the 12w7 prowedge sub at 3 ohms will this amp work with this sub ?
marc  Apr 11, 2021
2 answers
A
This amp will provide more than enough power for the W7. It's currently running mine. I would say the Audio Controls 1.800 (800 watt, 2ohm) would be more than sufficient. The W7 is not super power-hungry from my experience.
tyler  May 06, 2021
A
This amp can support a 3 ohm load but is expected to output more power than the JL Audio sub should get. We have other amps that will work and give the recommended power and advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can help you find one that works with the sub and includes any other abilities you seek.

bradley  Apr 09, 2021

A
The speaker outputs can work with wires up to 8 gauge in size

Q
I have a Audio Control LC 1.1500 and I am trying to wire my 2 ohm 1500 watt rms loaded enclosure to it. How do I wire it to the amp so that it is on 2 ohms and not 4 ohms? Does it have to be bridged? If so how?
hugo19977  Nov 15, 2020
2 answers
A
This is a mono amp. There is no bridging. On the Audio Controls LC 1.1500 you will see two sets of speaker out terminals. You can use either set of speaker out terminal, it doesn't matter. The amp is stable down to 2ohms. Other than setting the gain, there is nothing more you need to do.
tyler  May 07, 2021
A
You don't have to bridge this amp, it's actually not bridgeable. Just hook up your sub to the positive and negative terminals next to each other. Either set will work. The amp is stable to 2 ohms so there is nothing more to do. Just set the gain and your good.

Q
if i have two DVC 4 ohm subs wired parallel to 2 ohm, would i be able to use each pair of the positive and negative outputs to run each sub at 750w RMS @ 2ohm impedence?
brandon  Jul 02, 2020
1 answer
A
No, your DVC 4-ohm susb will each have an impedance of 2-ohms, connecting them to this amp will give you either a 1-ohm or 4-ohm impedance. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Hello I would like to buy this amp just wonder if you could help iv got 2x alpine R-W12D4 subs that i would like to run off it would it be better for me to run them at 2 ohm instead of 4ohm and how would I do that? Many thanks
craig  Dec 08, 2019
2 answers
A
Craig, you cannot wire those subs to 2-ohms, your options are 4-ohms or 1-ohm due to the voice coil configuration. This amp is not a good match for two of those subs. You would be better served with either this: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_57515001CP/Rockford-Fosgate-T1500-1bdCP.html?tp=115 OR this: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13698643/JL-Audio-RD1500-1.html?tp=115 and wiring those subs to a 1-ohm load. You may want to contact one of our advisors for more personalized help! https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx
thomas  Jan 07, 2020 (Staff)
A
To take advantage of the full 1500 watt output power of this amp, you would run the subs at 2 ohms. Chat with one of the techs on here for wiring advice with those specific subs, as I am not familiar with Alpine subs and do not want to steer you in the wrong direction. I'm using 4 10 inch Fosgate DVC subs wired down (series / parallel) to 2 ohms at the amp. Make sure if you run the amp at 2 ohms, you use a fused 0 awg OFC (NOT CCA) power cable, so as to not stress the amp and blow it from under powering it.

Q
If you buy the amp without the bass knob, will it just play the subwoofers at full power at all times?
anthony  Jun 26, 2019
2 answers
A
The bass knob allows you to adjust the gain on the fly. Without it your gain would remain the same unless you manually change it.
casey  Jul 08, 2019 (Staff)
A
It will play at the level the gain is set at and level of your crossover. With the knob you set gain with the knob at max and are able to turn it all the way down to almost nonexistent. Without the knob your sound level will always be set at its max
