Gandalfus yunohana

Gandalfus yunohana is a species of crab that lives around hydrothermal vents.

These deep sea crabs have no need for eyes as light cannot penetrate down that far.

They are between 40cm to 50cm across, with females being larger - the fancy word for this is ‘sexual dimorphism’.

And yes, strangely enough, they are named after Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings.
