preview for James Charles Instagram Story

On Friday, beauty YouTuber James Charles announced he was releasing his first ever eyeshadow palette with makeup brand, Morphe.

In his reveal video, James shared swatches of all 39 shades in his rainbow coloured palette, explaining that it contains a mixture of both eyeshadows, and pressed pigments.

Going on to explain the difference between the two, James revealed that while eyeshadows have other ingredients added to the formula, pressed pigments are the pure colour pigment, pressed into an eyeshadow pan, with no other ingredients added.

"Pressed pigments allow you to create the most vibrant product ever and I'm so incredibly proud of these. As an artist, I will say straight up to you guys, some of these pigments are a little bit harder to work with, just because you have to use slightly different techniques. But once you figure them out, they are so incredibly beautiful."

Despite giving advice on how best to apply these pigments and what primer/concealer to use underneath, some people took issue with his actual swatches, claiming that he faked them in order to make the eyeshadows look better.

However, James was quick to shut the rumours down and took to Twitter to immediately address them.

As well as Tweeting, James took to Instagram Stories to share further live swatches of his new palette.

Fellow YouTuber, Jaclyn Hill, also took to Twitter to back James up.

While the YouTube beauty community has earned a bad rap recently for misleading viewers, it appears that James is trying to be fully transparent with his Morphe collaboration, which we fully support.

The James Charles 39 Shade Artistry Palette launches on 13th November.
