At least one West Point cadet killed, more than 20 injured in rollover crash

At least one West Point cadet was killed and nearly two dozen more injured when a military vehicle overturned near a training site on Thursday morning.

The crash left 21 other cadets and two soldiers injured, a West Point spokesperson told NBC News.

The vehicle crashed around 6:45 a.m. near the Camp Natural Bridge training site in New York.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

Those injured in the accident were transported to local hospitals.

Multiple emergency vehicles responded to the crash. The U.S. Military Academy in a tweet asked people to avoid the area.

The prestigious U.S. Military Academy, also known as West Point, was founded more than two centuries ago, according to its website, and is located about 50 miles north of New York City.
