How to Watch: March Madness Selection Sunday 2018

Let the Madness begin!

It’s Selection Sunday! Today is the day that the NCAA Men’s Basketball field is announced.

Unlike past years, this year’s NCAA Tournament Selection Show won’t air on CBS. Instead, it will air on TBS.

Along with the channel change comes a format change which promises to drag things out even longer. That’s because the folks at TBS have decided to first announce, in alphabetical order, which school are in the Tournament. This will then be followed by an announcement of seedings and locations.

It’s pretty ridiculous. Even Charles Barkley agrees.

The worst part for UCLA Bruins fans has to be the fact that they will announce the teams in alphabetical order. So, we will have to wait till almost the end to know that UCLA is in for sure.

What could be interesting is what role, if any, the studio audience will provide. I’m sure someone at TBS said, “Hey, I’ve got an idea! What if we add a studio audience to the Selection Show to have fans react like they do at the NFL Draft?”

Now, that might sound like a good idea, but, in practice, it probably won’t work like that because this show is originating from Atlanta and I don’t know where they are getting an audience from. I guess they’re getting fans of Georgia and Georgia Tech. Turible.

Overall, the whole show is TWO. HOURS. LONG.

So, it will be long and they are going to drag it out for as long as humanly possible because they know you’ll be watching. EVERY. DAMN. MINUTE.

Well, of course, there’s a chance in this day and age that the whole tournament field could leak onto the internet or, more specifically, Twitter before TBS is done.

That would serve TBS right for making this take much, much longer than necessary.

Either way, when it’s all said and done, it will be time to fill out your bracket and be sure to join the BN Bracket Challenge, if you haven’t already done so.

What seed do you think the Bruins will get? Leave your answer in the comments below.

Go Bruins!!!
