Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo’s relationship has been a rollercoaster of emotion from the start. “It was love at first sight. It was crazy. We broke up for two months, realized that it was the worst decision, then got back together, got engaged, and got married,” Prinsloo summarized to Net-a-Porter of their love in 2019, adding, “It was a wild ride!”

And, it didn’t stop there. Following their 2014 Mexico nuptials, the pair would go on to welcome two children together: daughter Dusty Rose, who was born to the proud parents on September 21, 2016, and Gio Grace, who was born on February 15, 2018. 

In September 2022, the lovebirds announced that they were expecting their third child together, though news of their impending baby was quickly overshadowed by cheating allegations against Levine by Instagram model Sumner Stroh.

2012: A Modern Day Meeting

Like many modern couples, the Victoria’s Secret model and the Maroon 5 singer met online—but not in the way that one might expect. Rather than connecting on a dating site, the two were actually introduced by a mutual friend over email. “Adam was looking for a girl for a music video that could do some action stuff, and our friend was like, ‘You should meet Behati because she’s a total tomboy and down for anything,’” the Angel told Net-a-Porter in 2019.  

Though Prinsloo didn’t end up taking the gig, the pair continued to talk. “It was such a natural correspondence that we kind of fell in love over email,” she confessed. 

2012: Love at First Sight

After a month of getting to know each other virtually, Prinsloo, who was living in New York at the time, traveled to L.A. for a job and met up with the frontman at a boxing studio. “I remember walking in: I opened the door, and it was the classic moment where the light shines into the dark studio and everyone turned to look at me,” she recalled to Net-a-Porter. “He had boxing gloves on and he came to hug me—it was so awkward.” 

Things progressed from there, however, with the two heading to dinner.  “We talked for hours and had the best time,” Prinsloo remembered. “It was love at first sight. It was crazy.”

June 2012: Caught Kissing

By June 2012, the pair had gone public: The Daily Mail published photos of Levine locking lips with the model in Kauai, Hawaii. According to the publication, he was in town for a pal’s wedding. 

October 2012:  New York City Debut

By October 2012, Levine and Prinsloo were very much an item, which they proved when they made their red carpet debut at the GQ Gentleman’s Ball in New York City. 

February 2013: Taking a Break

Page Six reported in February that the twosome's fledgling relationship may have hit a skid. “We broke up for two months,” Prinsloo later confirmed to Net-a-Porter.

May 2013: Moving On?

In spring, reports began to surface that Levine had moved on with model Nina Agdal. “It’s very casual with Nina, actually,” a source reportedly told PEOPLE. He was also photographed with Agdal in Mexico in June. 

A source later told Us Weekly that Levine’s fling with her ended abruptly, however. “[He] went MIA on Nina and stopped answering her calls,” the source said.

July 17, 2013: Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Agdal found out the reason Levine ghosted her in July when news broke that after just two months apart, he had reunited with Prinsloo—with a special ring for that finger. "Adam Levine and his girlfriend Behati Prinsloo are excited to announce they are engaged to be married," a rep told Us Weekly at the time, adding, "The couple recently reunited and Adam proposed this weekend in Los Angeles." According to a source close to the pair, the duo's brief break made Levine realize that the African native was the one. “He really does love her,” the source said of Prinsloo, adding, "They are in love."

As for Levine’s proposal, the Voice star joked that he got so nervous before popping the question, he had to get down on both knees. “Doesn’t matter how certain you think you are, man. You still get down on that knee and everything turns…you just get woozy,” he said on LIVE With Kelly and Ryan in 2014.  “You’re like, ‘I’m doing this, oh my god.’ And like, you can’t be confident about it. It’s almost like it’s impossible.” 

Prinsloo showed off her new bling to Extra, telling the outlet, “It’s from the 1930s. I was very giddy. I was speechless. It was a beautiful moment.” She also revealed that her new fiancé had called her parents to get their blessing before asking her to be his bride. “He called my dad, he was a stand-up guy, called my mom, he did the whole thing,” she said.

October 2013: A Change of Heart

Levine opened up about his decision to marry Prinsloo during an October 13 appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. “Famous last words, 'I'll never get married,'" he reportedly said. "I still don't necessarily think you have to get married unless you meet someone that makes you want to marry them. And then you marry them and it's wonderful."

November 2013: A Standing O 

Prinsloo’s had a new fan in the audience at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in November 2013: her hubby-to-be. Levine reportedly whooped and cheeredfor his fiancée, even giving her a standing ovation when she closed out a sequence of the show in a pair of angel wings.

April 2014: A Better Man

Levine had nothing but praise for his future bride while walking the red carpet with her on his arm at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2014. “She makes me the best person I can be,” he told Us Weekly. “She’s the best in the world.”

June 2014: His Number One

Two months later, Levine gushed to GQ that Prinsloo was  “the coolest person in the world.” 

July 19, 2014: Wedding Bells

The couple tied the knot in Mexico with a super secret ceremony on July 19, 2014. According to People, the lavish affair was planned by wedding planners to the stars, Yifat Oren and Stefanie Cove, and took place at Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo. It was officiated by Jonah Hill. 

Guests, including Prinsloo’s model pals Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton, and Coco Rocha, were privy to meals of organic pork chops, fresh fish, and beets, and Levine’s band, Maroon 5, provided the entertainment, alongside other musical acts, such as Stevie Nicks and Sublime. 

Prinsloo, who sashayed down the aisle in a custom blush pink Marchesa creation with thin spaghetti straps, is said to have also performed a song for the groom—”First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes.

August 2014: African Safari 

Following their nuptials, the couple headed to Prinsloo’s native South Africa for their honeymoon.

August 2014: Mr. and Mrs.

The “Moves Like Jagger” crooner and his new bride hit the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards in matching leather. 

August 2014: Desire for Kids

The Grammy winner discussed his stance on marriage with Ryan Seacrest in August 2014. “The relationship doesn’t change, but you feel slightly more masculine,” he said. “If it’s the right marriage, if it’s the right person, the guy feels a little bit more like a man.” Levine also shared his thoughts on starting a family, saying, “I want to have 100 kids. I want to have more kids than would be socially responsible.” 

September 2014: Animal Attraction

Prinsloo appeared in the creepy and steamy video for Maroon 5’s single “Animals” in September 2014, which showcased the singer stalking her after she comes into his butcher shop as a client. It ends with the pair making out in the nude as a blood red substance is poured over their heads.

July 2015: Sweet Serenade

For their first anniversary, Levine and Prinsloo returned to the scene of their 2014 wedding at Flora’s Field Kitchen in Mexico, where the reality star reportedly serenaded his wife with Marvin Gaye’s "Let’s Get It On.” 

April 2016: Surprise!

Levine broke the news that his wife was expecting on Instagram in April 2016 with a photo of a pregnant Prinsloo throwing up the peace sign in a red bikini. “My two favorite Lakers fans,” the daddy-to-be captioned the photo, along with a baby emoji.

People revealed the baby’s sex in April 2016, with a source confirming that the couple would soon be welcoming a baby girl.

September 2016: New Blood

Dusty Rose Levine was born to the proud parents on September 21, 2016. Her mom shared an adorable photo of the baby asleep on Levine’s chest, writing, “Words can’t describe” on Instagram.  

November 2016: Family Matters

Levine got sentimental in November 2016, sharing a photo of his family on social media. "Everything I need is right here. (Beach optional),” he captioned a photo of himself with his arm around Prinsloo, who held their daughter.

 September 2017: Round 2

Prinsloo announced that she and her husband would soon welcome another baby with the bump selfie she posted in September 2017. “ROUND 2” she captioned the shot. 

November 2017: A Growing Family

In November 2017, Levine revealed the sex of his unborn baby to Ellen DeGeneres. "It's a girl," he shared. He also spoke about he and Prinsloo’s desire to have a big family, telling the talk show host, “I want a lot. I thrive in chaos. [Behati] was an only child, so she wants like 100 babies. I don’t know if I can do that. That’s a lot of babies.”

 February 15, 2018: New Arrival

The couple's second child, a daughter named Gio Grace, was born to the pair on February 15, 2018. “She’s got her dad’s toes,” Prinsloo captioned a heartwarming photo of the babe’s feet.  

May 16, 2018: A Milestone Birthday

Levine paid tribute to his baby momma on her 30th birthday, calling her "The Queen." "She’s a legend. She’s THE baddest. In just a few years we have laughed and loved harder than most," he gushed. "I wake up every morning thankful that it wasn’t all a dream. Here’s to a thousand more years. I love you @behatiprinsloo with everything I got."

May 2018: A Sweet Cameo

A roster of famous women made appearances in Maroon 5's 2017 video for “Girls Like You," including Jennifer Lopez, Gal Gadot, Ellen DeGeneres, Camila Cabello, and Millie Bobby Brown, but no cameo was sweeter than the one Prinsloo made with the couple’s daughter, Dusty Rose, at the end.  

November 2018: Giving Thanks

Prinsloo had a lot to be grateful for in 2018, showing off a sweet photo of her family enjoying some time on the swings for the holiday. 

December 2018: Lucky Star

Prinsloo told Us Weekly that she got "lucky" when it came to having Levine for a baby daddy. "He loves one-on-one time with them, so he takes Dusty to coffee every morning," she shared. "He’s a very hands-on dad. It’s awesome."

May 2019: Priority Shift

In May 2019, Levine left his role as a judge on The Voice to spend more time with his family, which Prinsloo later told TODAY was “good news for me, good news for the kids.” She joked, “I’m like, ‘What am I going to do with him?'”

 June 2019: Supportive Spouse

Prinsloo told TODAY in June 2019 that it was her husband who helped her through feelings of postpartum depression she had after giving birth to their two children. “I had moments of postpartum that I felt like it was coming through, but my husband was so incredibly supportive and always got me out of it,” she shared. “I think it’s very normal though, as a young mom and a new mom, to feel helpless and to feel overemotional.” 

November 2019: The Big 4-0

The mother of two celebrated her spouse’s 40th birthday with a sweet birthday tribute on Instagram. “40 is just a number, but it looks damn good on you,” she captioned a shot of the musician kissing her on the beach. “I wake up every morning more in love with you....happy birthday to my WHOLE LIFE. You’re so cool you’re so cool you’re so cool @adamlevine.” 

June 2021: Maui Fever

The parents returned to Hawaii in June 2021, where they were photographed splashing around in the Pacific Ocean near Maui together.

July 2021: Business Partners

Levine and Prinsloo became business partners in July 2021 with the debut of their joint tequila company, Calirosa, for which they held a star-studded launch party in L.A.

April 2022: New Digs 

In early spring, Levine and Prinsloo reportedly purchased Rob Lowe’s 10,000-square-foot, 11-bedroom Georgian colonial home in Montecito, California for a cool $52 million in April 2022, according to ET Canada.

April 2022: BFFs

The mother of two told The Zoe Report in April 2022 that her husband is her closest pal. “First and foremost, we’re best friends and we have such similar interests,” she said, noting that they try to make time for date night whenever they can. “We try and put each other first. So we get our alone time in—but kids are crazy!” she lamented.

September 6, 2022: Baby on Board

People confirmed in early September that the couple was expecting their third child together. One week later, the mama-to-be showed off her baby bump on Instagram with a photo of her belly being reflected in the window. "Recent," she captioned the snap.

September 20, 2022: Trouble in Paradise

On September 19, 2022, Instagram model Sumner Stroh released a TikTok video claiming that she had a year-long affair with the “Payphone” singer. She also showed a series of flirtatious DM’s that appeared to have come from Levine's official account. 

In addition, Stroh claimed that he messaged her to ask if he could name his and Prinsloo's unborn child after her. “Serious question,” the message read. “I’m having another baby and if it’s a boy I really want to name it Sumner. You OK with that? DEAD serious.” 

Page Six spoke to the model about her post, at which point she alleged that her affair with the musician took place in 2021 and had been a “physical” relationship. 

Levine addressed the allegations with an Instagram Story on September 20. "A lot is being said about me right now and I want to clear the air,” he wrote. “I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner. I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life."

Levine added: "In certain instances it became inappropriate; I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family. My wife and my family is all I care about in this world. To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it. And we will get through it together."

Four other women came forward with allegations of flirtatious messages from Levine following Stroh's claims.

September 21, 2022: United Front

Levine and Prinsloo appeared to be holding hands while stepping out together in Montecito, California, on September 21. A source told People that Prinsloo was “100 percent committed to her family,” despite the fact that Levine had gone behind his wife’s back and acted inappropriately. 

Another source claimed that "nothing physical happened" between Levine and Stroh. “He is completely denying that to friends," the source said. "Why would he do this? He liked the attention. He likes it more than most." Said the first PEOPLE insider: "He is committed to Behati and wants to make things work.” 

October 1, 2022: On the Mend

Prinsloo attended a charity event for the Shaquille O'Neal Foundation on October 1, 2022, which Levine's band, Maroon 5, performed at. A source previously spoke to People about Prinsloo's mindset, telling the magazine, "She is hurt and upset, but she is holding back because of the kids."

The insider continued: "She isn't happy with Adam, but she is very much about being positive. She just doesn't believe in drama. Adam keeps being very apologetic. He puts no blame on her and admits that he enjoyed the attention. He'll be the first one to say that he acted like a moron."

October 9, 2022: Sun and Sand

TMZ published photos of the pair enjoying a day at the beach with their two children on October 9, 2022.

October 14, 2022: Sending a Message

Prinsloo returned to Instagram on October 14, 2022, following a month-long absence with a photo of herself in shorts and black tights and flipping off the camera.
