Jeremy Irons

Profile

Jeremy trained at the Bristol Old Vic theatre school and made his Broadway debut in 1984 in Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing for which he received a Tony Award for Best Actor. His first major film role was as Charles Henry Smithson in The French Lieutenant’s Woman. He was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actor for his role. Jeremy will be playing Alfred Pennyworth, Batman’s butler in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

  • He owns Kilcoe Castle in County Cork, Ireland

  • His voice can be heard as the audio guide for Westminster Abbey

  • He thought about joining the circus when he was younger, but decided not to in the end because he didn’t like the look of the sleeping accommodation!
